explain to me why Phil doesnt announce his retirement effective at the end of the season so that he can go out with some love like Carr.
Please do not take this wrong....but i submit that the family being so involved in the program is a personal choice by the Fulmers. Most coaches do not involve the family so much in order to prevent what they are having to go through now.
I know it is hard on them and i do not wish it on any one.
I heard the same thing. Fulmer bears ultimate responsibility for what is going on at the end, and I do believe it is the end. His ego and stubborness to accept the reality of the situation has caused a great deal of pain and frusturation for many including his family and friends. People want to point to his character as a person who continues to fight and won't let go. Sometimes the ultimate show of character is expressed in the ability to admit it is over, to let go and to let everyone move on.
They are extremely nice people, so it is sad that they are getting drug through this. My wife and I were in several classes with Courtney in 2003, and she said at that time that she hated all the negative stuff her father had to go through. It must be out of control nowadays.
after hearing the stories about how Sanders' family was treated by Vol "fans" around Knoxville I have to think the Fulmer family is getting it worse. It's amazing how personal some people take a football game
