The highest quality team we beat was UGA and that was done in a part of the season UGA had their head up their rear. Who was the second highest quality team we beat? A mid-grade team no doubt.
We were blown out by UF, Bama, and Cal. Look at two of those three and where they are now.
Whether you like it or not, we are mid-grade. SEC championship can be tossed aside since one - we did not win and two - UF and UGA were rebuilding/reloading. We walked in ONLY thanks to a mediocre year in the league.
Since this is a business let us look at this from a business perspective. How many major companies reward their CEO's for mediocrity year after year? How many CEO's are hired for the standard of "just getting by"? Last time I checked, the business world was demanding. Success and beating out the competition was the intended goal. Look at the other programs around the country. Coaches are brought in to win and to get a ring. The standard is high. I've said this before and I will say this again. What sort of standards do you have in life? Do you want to excel and surpass others? Do you want the best? Do you want to come out on top? Or do you want to skate by and be average year after year? Do you want to barely float?
Seeing the tradition in this state and at this school I would think the mentality is to achieve the best. We want to surpass all other competition. Look at these schools' commercials. Do they advertise "we have more B and C students than anyone in the country"? Or do they flaunt their Rhodes Scholars, Nobel Laureates, etc? This standard Hamilton sets tells everything about this program and reflects on this school. Yes I know the SEC is tough. But so is anything else in the business world. Does Microsoft, Google, and other companies just want to settle on mediocrity or are they trying to not only surpass their own records but to beat out their competition?
In the business world, how would we rate? Are we "profiting" or just "breaking even"?
