Fulmer did according to a report....

The article says if they'd decided to make a switch they would have gone with Stephens. It says nothing more.

I was responding to your post that said you didn't see anything that said they wanted to put Stephens in. They did want to put him in before the game started a the midway point if things weren't going well, but whoever decided against it decided not to. So they did, but they ended up not doing it. :hi:

You think that Clawson could over rule Fulmer?? Fulmer has made decisions and honestly this is one I say he made since he feels an obligation to Crompton for being here since 05.

first off, the only obligation fulmer is holding to crompton is that from post-bowl practices all the way up until the season started against ucla, crompton beat out all the other qbs in all the other for the starting jobs in practice, every coach does it from fulmer to meyer to lovie to dungy to fisher. If you were to watch a qb do everything right in practice for over half a year, you'd honestly have a hard time pulling him out too, especially if the other guys were doing even worse than he did for over half a year...

True, clawson cant over rule fulmer, but based off of what you have you can't say that that's what happened. They could have very well had a discussion about it and decided that it wasnt the best route to go on based off of the risks or past performances or anything. You're piecing together things you dont know and...well, it kinda feels like presenting heresay as evidence

none of this to be rude

To be completely honest, I don't think there was ever a competition for the starting job and it was announced WAY in the spring that Cromp was the guy.

i think it was announced around may, june, or july. But either way, it did mean he was outperforming the other two qbs in practice for anywhere from 4 to 6 months

I meant I saw nothing that says that midgame Clawson was wanting to insert Stephens.

According to reports though, he was lightyears ahead of the other QB's. I just don't think this is accurate anymore.

The backups have been getting alot of reps in practice due to Cromptons ankle. May be they s*ck more?

Can we all just agree that the coaching staff was collectively foolish?

For all we know Fulmer wanted to put Stephens in and Clawson talked him out of it.

I just can't see that. Fulmer has resisted change for this long, so what makes me think he would want any change. He's the one that kept saying that "Jon is our guy".

Fulmer can feel the devil biting his rear. He'll do whatever it takes to win from here on out.

Within the rules, this should always be the goal. I just think Fulmer has a hard time breaking from tradition to trust Clawson to do his job.

I can understand the concern, but there isn't really any evidence to say one way or another. I think after this season when Fulmer is "retired" we'll know a lot more about what went on.

Agreed, I just want the truth, even if it pisses me off.
