Fulmer comments (merged)

I find it very humorous that people actually think Fulmer won all those games by himself. Fulmer was the greatest under Cutcliffe and the recruiting of Rodney Gardner. Without those two, he was mediocre at best. Gardner brought in all those talented players that one th '98 championship and Fulmer took the glory. Why do you think Gardner left? Fulmer always was a self-serving (enter any appropriate word) and he got what was coming to him. You will notice also that when Cutcliffe left, our offense was horrible. But who was always taking credit for being such an offensive guru? Yep, Mighty Phil Fulmer.

That's all true, but I've never heard Fulmer have anything but praise for Cutcliffe, and he was the one who recommended Cutcliffe to UT's staff. Rodney Garner has been known for years, for being a great recruiter.

Dude, I understand what you are feeling, but you may want to read the new thread posted by Freak.

Every time we watch the VOLS, we get a fresh reminder of what shape the program was left in... Fulmer, Fulmer, Fulmer. There, I said it 3 more times.

so if you say it 3 times in a mirror does that mean he will magicly show up and clean out your fridge?

Watching the other guy self destruct is going to be even more fun than Fulmer's demise because he's got people more snowed than The Fired Coach ever did.

If not, I apologize. But thanks for helping me to express my feelings on our ex-coach. My dog says thanks also.

Had interesting comments today in Arkansas and spoke highly of Mallett. Just wondered how things might have ended up if he hired Michagan qb coach which would have also got Mallett. Just wondering what you guys think if that would have happened with our defense playing the way it has and only if we had a qb as good as Mallet what could have been.

If that fat dweeb was still the head coach, we'd still be awful.

To be fair, it wasn't 14, it was 12. 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 99, 00, 02, 05, 06, 07, 08. Fulmer was 5-12 against Florida as head coach, one of only two teams he had a losing records against, the other being LSU (3-5)

3-4 against Auburn.

Fulmer was forced out at Tennessee last year.
:eek:lol:

It could also be said that his performance had declined so dramatically over a period of years that we couldn't let him completely ruin the program. He came pretty close.

Fulmer's arrogance + Crompton + 3rd and chavey + UCLA + Wyoming = ecstasy for Vol fans

I wasn't saying anything about Fulmer i am glad we have a new staff . I was just wondering how things would have been with this staff and Mallett as the qb.

Wasn't Tennessee promised the delivery of Mallett if Fulmer hired Scott Loeffler and Mike DeBord, formerly of the Michigan coaching staff, to become the OC and QB coaches in lieu of Dave Clawson?

In retrospect, Clawson does have Bowling Green playing well. Gee Whiz, maybe it was Fulmer's fault after all.
