But with its history, its tradition and, yes, its budget, Vol Ball can only go so far with a 23-13 loss, albeit to reigning national champion and top-ranked Florida. Since when is defeat accepted and even celebrated?

That tells you how far UT football had sunk, first in the latter stages of the Phillip Fulmer era, then after the Vols' 19-15 home-field loss to UCLA last weekend.

I don't know about this year, but here is what he said last year:

“We’ve won 148 football games in my time here at Tennessee and lost a little bit less than that – a lot less than that, actually – and we didn’t all of a sudden get stupid as coaches. We know what we’re doing, and we’re going to go to the practice field and correct and work and put our football team on the field with the best advantage that we can possibly have.”

LMFAO!!! With quotes like this its no wonder Bama, UGA, FLA, and LSU pretty much always handed Phil his ***! Yea Phil you won 150 + games but you failed against the top SEC teams when it mattered! Thank GOD for CLK!!!!!!

It's funny how everyone complains about the Fulmerites, but the Fulmer-haters are the ones who can't go a day without bringing him up. I am glad his day has passed and am ecstatic with our new coaching staff, as I am sure most of you are. So why don't you all quit raking the coals and let this tired fire die out.

It is one thing if he says stupid things in the press, but now you guys are just hoping that he does so you can get all catty like some old hens at the hair dressers. How about you all not stew about ole Phil like some pathetic ex-girlfriend and move the $!*&@ on............

Every time we watch the VOLS, we get a fresh reminder of what shape the program was left in... Fulmer, Fulmer, Fulmer. There, I said it 3 more times.

I think he said something during halftime about how he really liked the gameplan we were using. Don't know about any postgame comments.

Maybe Fulmer should wait for CLK to lose 13 more times to Florida. That's only fair since he lost to them 14 times. Think about that-Kiffin would have to lose 13 more times to Florida to be even with Fulmer's horrible record against them.

To be fair, it wasn't 14, it was 12. 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 99, 00, 02, 05, 06, 07, 08. Fulmer was 5-12 against Florida as head coach, one of only two teams he had a losing records against, the other being LSU (3-5)

Scarey thing is that from 2002 to 2004 Fulmer was 2-1 against UF with a bad bad loss in 2002, a win against a terrible UF team in 2003, and a lucky win against another subpar UF team in 2004 AND.............they were coached by Ron Zook. If not for that, Fulmer might have had a worse record.

Fulmer should be ran out of town on a rail for the way he let this program go down the past 8 yrs. We are stuck with a QB who drops back in the pocket and looks as if he rode the short bus to school his whole life. What makes it worse is Fulmer had to see it and did nothing about it. I guess it was his foolish pride of being a stand up guy to hear the Fulmerites talk about it. I remember the start of last season and Fulmer telling the press Crompton is our guy. When people asked why his response was " I don't think I have seen you at pratice all year" well duh..you kept practices closed so no one could see how bad you had ran the program in the ground. Just sweep it under the rug Phil no one is the wiser and if they do I am Phil Fulmer I will leave this school under my terms.

Newsflash Fat Man: You were FIRED so why don't you LEAVE and never ever come back and have anything to say about the Vols.

Was I being to harsh?
