I can understand some ill feelings. However, isn't it UT that chose to extend and fatten his contract a year before they fired him. From CPF's point of view he probably feels he earned the right to get at least another year to try to right the ship. I doubt he feels guilty about cashing those buyout checks. I wonder how many of the people bashing him for it would be hesitant or feel guilty about cashing them if they were in his shoes.

Fulmer would not accept the Memphis job. That is a dead end job that doesn't provide the opportunity for success. He would go to Virginia, if they would have him. I hope someone gives him a chance. I, for one, would like to see what he could do at another school and what staff he could pull together. I don't think Chavis will leave LSU.

UVA has had a chance to be a top ACC school in years past and never cashed in. Having said that the ACC is wide open to anyone willing to take it. No one actually wins that conference. Especially not this year except GT maybe. With Fulmer having recruited reasonably well in the Mid-West where the big boys are, he could possibly build a good O and D line to start.

I think UVA would be a good fit for Fulmer too. He could put UVA back on the map in recruiting the Hampton area. And I would think UVA is about the most desperate program in the nation right now considering their in-state rival, VT has pretty much dominated the ACC since they moved over... UVA needs a spark fast, and bad-like. Fulmer would be a good fit in that small city atmosphere too.

I live in Hokie country about 45 mins from Blacksburg, so I would welcome someone to bring UVA back to a relevant state so that I could bash on some of my band wagon Hokie friends here!

I think he is going to make a play for Georgia...He may not get it, but I think he will try if anything happens down there....

Charlottesville, Va is very much like Maryville, Tn. My brother works for the athletic department at UVA and has said that he has not heard anything about a current coaching search but has said that Fulmers name has been brought up by the media. Plus, he could be an 8-4 coach there and no one would be calling for his head. I think they have had two 9 win seasons in the last 15 years. I could actually see this move happening for him.

CPF's time has come and gone as a head coach in today's Division 1 football. His approach as a "players coach" eventually back-fired on him. Ultimately, players respect a coach who is a strict disciplinarian and makes decisions to move the program forward. CPF was neither a strict disciplinarian nor did he allow his program to move forward. As a result, his recruiting fell off with top recruits and he had to settle for "left-over" recruits that many programs didn't want with a few exceptions. CPF will have to make changes in his approach to the game if he has a chance to be successful as a head coach in football.

I aggree with you memphis is crap hole, I have lived in this area for all my life and I would not recommend to anyone to live in this city. If it wasn't for my job I would move out of the god for saken place...:glare:

Yes, it was time for Fulmer to leave. Everyone and everything runs it course. If anyone analyzes history, not just academically, they would see it. Fulmer had run his course.

The haters are just that. They are small minded, they send Crompton death threats and boo our team in front of recruits. They don't have enough sense to put things into perspective and see the big picture. They jump on bandwagons, run with the herd and try to look smart.

I am glad Fulmer is gone. It was time, but he did give us several years of enjoyment before his demise. Yes, he stayed too long, but the haters would do the same in his situation.

The haters can say what they want, but I choose to remember the good times winning the SEC and NC. All programs have their down years and we have had ours, but good times are ahead before the next downturn. Hopefully a long time from now.
