it probably didn't hurt, but at this piont, i'll have to take Archie, Peyton and Eli at their word, all of whome give a great deal of credit to CDC an his abilities as a qb coach.

wasn't it peytong that called erik last summer and told him to "just shut up and listen" to CDC upon his return?

yeah, peyton has come during the summer and helped Erik the past two years and bragged about CDC.

now, was a great OC? no. was it all on him? no.

I always had that impression from "information" bouncing around that Sander's was kept on the reel as well. I do recall one game he was "turned loose" to call on his own. It was actually stated as such by csomeone in the ranks if not Phil. I can't recall the opponent, but I remember some ongoing flack that RS was kept on a rope and Phil was controlling the O. If memoery serves me, and maybe it will to someone, but we performed rather well that game, and never saw anymore of RS on his own. I was not a huge RS fan, and probably bashed him some in the process, but am open minded enough to know RS was much better than credit given, and most of the downward trend after CDC round1 was not on CRS. CDC hasn't been stellar upon his return. CRS had several high win seasons in his own right. Ainge with Cut is better. Woodson with RS is better. Not much of an argument here other than were no better off at this point with or without CRS, or with or without CDC. The probelm is elsewhere. If nothing else CRS was a young fresh mind, and had he as much freedom and trust at the time from CPF as Applewhite does from Saban, or Bobo from Richt, maybe he'd done more.

ainge didn't nearly double his yardage totals while playing the same number of games. woodson did.

Casey Clausen and Tee Martin didnt exactly have stellar pro careers. And Clausen had only one outstanding season in which he was surrounded by nfl draft picks at rb, te, and THREE at wr.
