Fulmer Bought a Box at Neyland

I have always considered Coach Fulmer a good man. I have a brother who is a Razaorback fan and his and other unrealistic hog fans' pure hatred for Houston Nutt has caused me to rethink my opinions on my team and my teams coach when we lose. I always told him that at least his coach was a good man and if he didn't win enough he would eventually be replaced. That didn't seem to matter. It just made him madder and then he would start spewing surprising hatred when complaining about losses. I could understand his complaints about a loss. What I could not understand was his hatred of Coach Nutt.

Fulmer just can't let it go.

I don't quite get this. I understand that he has led the program in a steady decline since the 2001 SECCG but is he not allowed to be a fan? The guy dedicated over half of his life to UT, it shouldn't be a big deal that he wants to watch the games.

I completely believe that it was time for Fulmer to go, and I am all abord the Lane Train, but Fulmer has been a huge value to the program, just not on the field as of late.

You all should go read Clay Travis' book "On Rocky Top", you may learn something.

comparing Nutt to Fulmer's a stretch

1) Nutt flirted with the Nebraska job
2)Nutt ran off Mustain
3) He had an affair with a newscaster
those are the straws that broke the camel's back

I didn't say Nutt or Coach Fulmer were the same or that either were flawless. I just think both are basically good men and I was just discussing hatred of coaches in general. imho :)

Just because he is bitter, doesn't mean he still doesn't want to see his Alma-mater do well. I'm sure he's there to support the team.

Can't argue with that...

Wouldn't argue with you anyway. You're the guy that fails to realize from 2 years of crappy play that the current QB can't hack it in the SEC and instead of giving someone else a shot would rather continue to watch the same crappy play.

Why does it matter if he bought a box? He went to school at UT, played football at UT and coached at UT as well as he still lives in Maryville. So I don't see what the big deal is.

I haven't been able to get back to knoxville for a game since the 94 season.

Now that I am no longer "socially attached," I think I would like to see a game again.
From hatvol's box.

Surely he's got one??!?

Come to think of it. I bet he got a box when he donated a million bucks to the university. That is a very typical thing for those who give that kind of money. So even those who HATE Fulmer should be able to recognize that.

He was signing his next extension with it.

Some of you need to just grow the F up and give it a break all ready. You got what you wanted, Fulmer is gone. I mean it's not like the man didn't give us a National Championship, 2 SEC Championships in 5 trips to Atlanta, 2 of which we were underdogs and almost won. Almost won more games than anyone thats coached here, making us one of the winningest programs in the history of the NCAA, pretty much had us consistantly in the top 10 or top 20. Won 1 National Championship, and had us on the cusp of 2 other than that. I personally have met the man on more than one occasion thanks to a friend of mines father, Bud Ford. If you know anything about the program you know who Bud Ford is. And he was a very gracious human being, and if you met him you could understand why all the players that ever played for him loved him. Now I will admit I hated that he got fired, but I am very happy with CLK and what he brings to the table. So all I have to say to the bunch of you, is grow up already. If you didn't like him so much, he was here 15 years! Why are you not fans of another team by now? Show some freaking respect.
