Fulmer at Miami Dolphins Camp

That's a sufficient distance away from the UT program. Here's hoping he stays there.

Another quality post to add to your post count, Hat.
It's a balance issue. You post Fulmer slurping nonsense, then I slap people back to the reality that he drove the program straight off a cliff. It keeps the natural order of things.

Funny that the main threads right now are, "songs that remind you of TN" and a Tennessee Football League, and yet insight that Fulmer is hopping around different NFL camps and college campuses is considered nonsense... In case you forgot, it is the offseason until we get the practice report in for today, nonsense is all we got.

why do you want the man to fail now? he is a big part of tn football history. i understand that you think he ran the program into the ground, but he's gone. he also took the program to new heights in the 90s and made tn a powerhouse. he won a national title and brought in some of the greatest players tn has ever produced. give the guy a break. kiff's our coach now, but fulmer is still a vol. as a vol fan, show him some respect. i, for one, hope he succeeds in whatever endeavor he chooses.

I fervently hope Fulmer's post UT career is every bit as successful as Jerry Green's.

Fulmer slurping? Now that conjures up a repulsive imagery. Fulmer would have been fine if only he had known when to hang it up.

As do I. Fulmer had a great run for a while, but come the turn of the century, he just lost his touch. Anybody who thinks a change wasn't needed is way out of touch with reality. The game had passed him by.

hope the guy has a great career somewhere but the further away he is from the Tennessee program the better right now. i believe he causes to big a distraction. Thought the whole idea of him using an office on campus was kinda out there too.

I agree. He needs to take a step back. This is Lane Kiffin's team now. The sooner he accepts that, the better it will be for him.

i completely agree, but i don't think he deserves to be bashed by tn fans at this point. he isn't the coach anymore and he has no bearing on the direction of the program anymore. i understand how he can be a distraction (thanks, media!), but i think kiff can EASILY overcome any distraction phil brings to the table. phil is and always will be a true vol and i will always support him for that.

I don't think many of us on here are upset that there was a change... What gets me are the posters that can only spout their allegiance for Kiffin by denigrating Fulmer...

And Fulmer has not been a distraction to the team at all, so not sure why you are even talking about that... He had the option to take a position within the Athletic Department but turned it down...

You obviously don't get it. My animus toward The Fired Coach has nothing to do with my opinion of, or allegiance to, Lane Kiffin. It has everything to do with the fact that I have always and will always detest the sanctimonious oaf. Now that I have no common interest with him, I have no problem rooting against him in a most vociferous manner.

soo, you hated him when he was the winningest coach in the country. or when he won us our first consensus national title in 47 years? i get that he lost his touch and should have retired after '01, but the man did great things for tn. i seriously doubt you would trade what he accomplished early on in exchange for not having 2 losing seasons in 4 years.

I would prefer he never have been hired. Had Majors been fired in '88, which he should have been, and Howard Schnellenberger or Dennis Erickson hired, Fulmer would never have been seen or heard from as a major college head coach.

The position he turned down was a fund raising position under his boy Peterson, not the AD, and he did so after it was practically declared the stupidest, most wasteful hire in the history of the university.

...and our fans would have more than one NC to hang their hats on.

Liked how Phil threw in dicispline as a factor, for putting so many players into the NFL

He probably gave David Lee a couple of pointers on the wildcat as well
