Fulmer and UTC

You could bring Fulmer back, tell him to get whoever he wanted at assistant coach, and he would do better than Jones. I'd much rather have his offense than this zone read.

I'm all for it if he just wants something to do, but I don't think anybody lies awake at night thinking "Gosh.... Wonder what can I do tomorrow for the University System?"

No, but they do think, "what can I put my remaining years, experience and energy into, that's bigger than myself?"

The answer to that is always people, whatever the channel or venue. If he misses investing his time and experience into young men's lives, he'll be interested.

I'm confused, are we bashing Fulmer or Jones ?

Yeah they get in the trashing mode and start slinging stuff at everybody. Makes no difference if your "facts" are actually true. Just jump in and throw down your opinion even if u have no way of backing it up. Some of these folks have to be in long term treatment for something, only explanation I can think of..😀😀😀😀

hahahahaha Fulmer is never going to coach again, UTC is not "committed to winning championships" fer cryin out loud.

Maybe you're not familiar with their playoff history over the last three years. They've been knocking on that door pretty consistently for a school that's "not committed to winning championships."

B.J. Coleman was recently released by the Sakatchawan Roughriders, so he's available to be on staff.

Somebody probably laughed at that idea for Jim Bob Cooter...once upon a time. :)

Lets be honest with ourselves, who would do a better job coaching next years team...cbj or cpf?

Post BCS Title Fulmer wasn't very good. Pre BCS Fulmer was exceptional.

Fulmer retired on the job after winning the title, because his wife wanted him to stop working so hard and spend more time with his family.

Does he still have the fire? Yes
Does he still have the energy? Don't know
Has he kept up with changes in how the game is played? Yes
Is he willing to adapt? Yes
Will he recruit well enough? Yes
Will he recruit too well and hurt UTK? No

66 is an age, when coaches usually retire, not get back into the game. Perhaps he would be better suited as an AD/assistant coach for the Mocs.

Perhaps he would be better off as an OL Coach/Assistant Head Coach for UTK. CBJ could really benefit from having someone on his staff with better game day experience.

We really need someone to teach the OL how to "Block like Heck!"

I have tremendous respect for Coach... He is, was and always will be a Real Volunteer. His career produced the best record of any if not all of the swinging door coaches that came through UT after him.

If he still has the fire in his belly for the game and coaching, I say go for it. The level of UTC Football will see an immediate and significant upgrade.

I really don't want to pile on CPF, but if that really was the truth, don't you think he'd likely never been fired in the first place?

People seem to be working a lot longer these days. My wife's boss retired at 76 and my son had a professor working for him just retired in his mid eighties. So if you are in good health why not.Good pile on job GV. :)

I'd rather see him take over at ETSU.
Tarbrush isn't exactly setting the world afire up there in JC.

You may wanna go rewatch those 2005,6,7,8 fullback teams pound the rock before requesting that.

Stop the speculation everyone. Be patient. Phil will go back and watch film. Then announce a decision. Simple as that.
