Fulmer and UTC

I'm all for him, & I hope we don't schedule them while he is there. We might get embarrassed (again).

It would be like losing to Wyoming........no wait......

Love some of the reasoning in that article. Why would a retired 66 year old worth 7 figures take on a full time job just 75 miles away to be closer to family? Wouldn't it be easier to stay retired and just drive down there whenever he wants?

If the man still has the heart to coach, I'm all for it. Would be neat to see him do well there then hang it up

For the love of the game, the state, and the UT system.

I'm all for it if he just wants something to do, but I don't think anybody lies awake at night thinking "Gosh.... Wonder what can I do tomorrow for the University System?"

be very surprised to see that happen. He is enjoying his current life.. the coach in him might make him ponder maybe five minutes, but he is not getting into that..

I just hope he holds out for a proper buy out, things have changed since he was opted out.

He has more than 1 daughter so where are all of them? He can't move closer to all of them unless they all live in Chattanooga. I think this is Wamp trying to get publicity for his home school. The athletic department can sell to coaches to take the job as it's so good a Hall of Fame National Champion coach was interested in it.

Guess if a guy can run and win POTUS at 70, then a guy can coach college football. On similar topic, was forced to take in-laws to see Paul Anka tonight, and wasn't least bit looking forward to it, but the guy killed it...was the best show...dude's 76, and he went on for 2.5 hours, didn't take a break and jumped around like a 20 year old. Surely at 66, Fulmer can handle it if he wants...he'd probably do very well.

By who? Surely not the coach that lost to Dooley by three touchdowns while he was coaching Cincinnat.

I think they are all still in Knoxville area.. but I didn't read story. pretty certain the other two are around his home.. daughter living there not a reason to go IMO

Now we know why Wamp is no longer in the house. Even if it is true, leaking it is a sure way to screw it up. Damn politicians never know when to keep their traps shut about something.

Lets be honest with ourselves, who would do a better job coaching next years team...cbj or cpf?

I would say opinions vary more than you realize.

And I am not so sure current players idolize Fulmer the way some of you do.

But honestly? I think you just asked an ignorant question. That is about like Packers fans wanting Lombardi, Steelers fans wanting Noll, or Dolphins fans wanting Shula back. Even if they were all alive, the game has changed.

If you want Fantasy Island, buy the damn DVDs.

The players that played for Fulmer didnt "idolize" him but he didnt lose to Vanderbilt, kY or usc. But your right, he wouldnt get this new style football. He didnt run a BS zone read offense that rarely passes downfield and he didnt run defenses that regularly gave up 40 points to Vandy. I guess he just wouldnt get it in today's Vol football program.

Im glad people like you and Butch bring us back to the reality of accepting garbage in this new age football landscape where we take double overtime to beat App State and get embarrased by Vandy.

I think Fulmer had an awesome golden parachute.

All things considered, it's too bad UT didn't try to rehire Fulmer after the LAME debacle. Could have saved us a lot of heartache.

Better go back and check your stats on the teams he didn't lose to........there's 1 there that doesn't belong, and it happened in 2005 in Neyland in the same nite Peyton's number was retired.

That article s very misleading. Wamp wrote a letter to the online paper and encouraged CPF to come to UTC. At no point did Fulmer actually express any interest nor did CPF respond publicly. It's a crazy rumor that won't ever come to fruition

Exactly. He's kept plenty try busy over the years with CBS, ETSU, an investment firm, grandkids, etc...

Surely at 66 he isn't that bored...
