Fulmer and staff have to go. Time to exit gracefully.

I have always defended Fulmer in the past based largely on what he did in the early part of his coaching career. I'm 23 years old so I really started caring about UT right when Fulmer first took over as coach. I will say this, today's loss was the worst beat down I have ever seen a Tennessee team get in my lifetime. Sure the game was still close into the 3rd quarter, but after the fumble return the whole team just gave up, it was horrible. All told we were never REALLY in this game. I'm not one of these crazy fans that says I'm going to stop caring until they make changes at coach, I'll still be at Neyland next weekend and every other home game this year, but at the same time it is probably time to look to the future. By that I mean we need to realize that the game of football is evolving, and that our coach doesn't seem to want to evolve with it. He still wants to play the same smashmouth game that he played back in the 60's. Save that for the Big 10, we can't continue to compete in the SEC without evolving with the other teams. I know everyone here seems to be clamoring for a new coach but does anyone have any REAL suggestions or ideas who that might be? Because clearly we don't need to hire from within, or else things might never change for the better.

This seems to be a trade mark of CPF coaching

WE WERE SUPPOSED TO LOSE!!!

Your blood runneth orange eh?

This doesn't cut it, sir. Preach all you want about others not sticking it out with the team but I'd say they at least had some hopes and expectations that we could win this game. However you state that you expected us to lose and therefore are not surprised by the loss.

Now listen (or read as it is) closely... everyone wants the best for this program. Whether you like it or not we've fallen behind in the times. Go ahead and keep those blinders on that prevent you from seeing where this program is headed, which is inevitably down, but the fact of the matter is that our coaching staff hasn't evolved with the way the game is played.

You had some valid points, the fumbles, interception, etc. wasn't committed by Fulmer's hand but he could have had our team ready to play. Florida's speed and the greatness of their team isn't fulmer's fault either - don't be a jack@ss. Maybe if he had some more passion about our team and the program then he could motivate our players better and they could perform better in big games such as these.

Regardless of what you think after reading my post, change is needed in Knoxville and the possibility of it not coming because of loyalists who aren't looking out for the better of the program makes me absolutely sick.

the season's barely begun and already i am wondering how phil, chief, and cut are going to save it. i don't see any easy end to the misery. we've got bama, arkansas, and georgia looming, and suddenly, vandy and kentucky look like real challenges. surely, if this season pans out like it looks right now, there will be some big changes made!

That's a shame too. They always show the video of the team and coaches reciting General Neyland's game maxims each week before the game, however, I wonder if the coaching staff even takes these to heart or are they just going through the motions. Just today alone:

NO. 3: If at first the game or the breaks go against you, don't let up - put on more steam. Obviously that didn't happen today, we got some bad breaks and just quit in the 3rd quarter.

NO. 5: Ball, oskie, cover, block and gang tackle, for this is the winning edge. Again, it doesn't seem the coaching staff puts a priority on this either.

NO. 6: Press the kicking game for it is here that the breaks are made. Well, lots of breaks for the other teams in the kicking game. It's been this way for years and I don't know why they can't fix it. It's not rocket science. Great special teams is a hallmark of Frank Beamer's teams at VT and always has been. Clearly this can be coached.

NO. 7: Carry the fight to your opponents and leave it there for the whole game. No elaboration needed in my opinion.

Fulmer is a joke but spineless Hamilton will never fire him. I wonder how much it will take to fire him. We will definitely loss to Bama, Kentucky, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Georgia. But look on the bright side we may beat Vanderbilt, Lousiana Lafeayette, Mississippi State and Arkansas State.

i still have hope for the rest of the season. We don't have any more major opponents who run this wide open spread type of offense like Florida and Cal, and I think that we can match up better against a more traditional style team. But like it or not it seems this wide open style of football is no longer just a gimmick run by select schools, but more the way of the future, and to keep up with the changing landscape of the game, change may be necessary because I don't see Fulmer and co. overhauling their entire system, that's just not the "Tennessee way". With that in mind it might be important to look outside the program in order to change our program for the positive.

I have been in this coaches corner for yrs. now, but i really do think it's time for them to go. I said after the Cal game that this was the worst Tennessee team in yrs., and this game proved it to me.
I don't want Cutcliff as head coach either.

I call on the AD to remove Phil and his staff before i lose total intrest in the program.

Oh Such a lovely Bright side :p Guess we should also say a bright side is that we won't be going to a bowl game which is better than going to one since we can't win those either???

I have emailed Hamilton, Fulmer, Chancellor, President of UT, President of Alumni Assoc. and am trying to locate email for the Board of Trustees to express my opinions and concerns. Email me if you want these email addresses.

Post them here? I'd like to have them, please.

Hey, NationofVols/OrangeSquare do you have your Independence Bowl tickets yet? Does your wife still drink Orange Zima?

Look you can hate the man all you want, the fact is the University does not have the Money to fire him. Their still paying for the last two basketball coaches.

So we can either shut up and give our young players some support or drive them into the ground. You think Fulmer listens to this crap? No.

So file for bankruptsey!!!!

No way. It hit him right on the numbers in the stomach. Dumb CBS announcers were trying to guard him and blame it on ainge's pinky...
He just bobbled it like 5 times..

You are right, watched it again in slow motion. He didnt close up on the ball fast enough.

Tell me again how Tebow is a joke. Tell me again how great Arian Fumble is. Tell me again how the defense was improving. Tell me again how we're still a contender in the SEC. Tell me again how Foolmer is fixing the special teams. You got exactly what you deserve today. Stay loyal to an incompetent administration. Welcome to Shreveport. You caused it, you get it.

Hey hat,

Time to stop and shut your mouth. I might get banned for this but enough is enough. To call Arian Foster, Arian Fumble is downright uncalled for. He is going out and giving his best for himself and the football team. I am tired of Fulmer just like everyone else but I am sick of your attitude directed at players.

Arian does deserve some crap. He's cost TN 2 games before today and he cost TN momentum today.
He is Arian Fumble

I was always taught the qb puts it in the stomach pushing into the breadbasket. No way he felt the ball there that time.

BS

Coker fumbled, no one is saying anything about that.
Ainge threw and INT, no one is saying anything about that.

And as much as you might not like a player, they are college athletes and are playing as hard as they can. To call them names is wrong and I am sick of hat doing that.

I've heard it broken down before but can't remember the number..

How much does Phil make per game?
