on offense
after watching it was clear we have some issues with the oline. i actually saw a solid push on the line several plays but Hurd took the wrong hole, also our center got swim moved 4 separate times that were actually play disruptive. WR looked good running routes, on several of the early passes we ran a basic smash / corner combo with smith in the slot and Preston out wide and for some reason Dobbs either didn't see or was trying to force the smash route that almost got jumped for picks mulitple times (smith on the corner route was very open on them). debord was determined to pound them up the middle and they were prepared to stack the box. middle of the field is wide open for Wolf. if you rewatch you will see how balanced the offense looked that first drive, shocking now that they couldn't just get it going again.

defensively they actually seemed over aggressive on several key plays, over running clear assignments trying to "make a play" leaving us with those jet sweeps and gashed on some plays. overall the defense looks pretty solid. giving up a td from the muffed punt and a lucky wheel route that Verren didn't force him out of bounds.

i think we see a completely different team next weekend and if not for some momentum killing plays and bonehead mistakes last nights game would have looked different.

It seemed like they pulled 6 plays out of a tumbler and said, "These will be the plays we'll run all game". It was the same thing over and over again.

it was obvious those run plays change drastically when Dobbs has the ability to read and react. they clearly were calling not reads but designed run plays. Debord and Butch thought with enough time our boys should be able to match there Dline man for man and pound it. unfortunately the Oline made some mistakes in early down situations that put us in 3rd and longs, cant have that regardless if its Peyton or Dobbs when they can drop 8 into coverage i dont care how good you can throw cant get behind the chains and expect a balanced offense. i can remember when Bray was leading the offense and we would throw and incomplete pass on 1st and 2nd people complained we didn't run enough early. like i said before, if the line can figure it out i am confident this team will be fine moving forward.

I have ZERO desire to watch that hot mess again. I record every game and always delete the L's. This time I deleted the W. It's strange that somehow this W feels like an L.

At the end of the day....I'd rather be a Vol...win or lose. Winning is just a lot more fun! (usually)

Stupid vanilla play calling almost got us beat. That and the oline of course. Dobbs should always have the option to read imo

I hope whatever we held back from using last night the staff is extremely confident in because being vanilla almost got us beat.

Pointed that swim move out to friends while watching. Guy blew past Coleman like he wasn't even there
