Alright Vol fans, some here have already got acquainted with me, to you that haven't I am an Auburn fan. Yes it is easily seen by my avatar. I may have ruffled a few feathers but truly intend no harm, and to those without thick skin I do apologize. I am a member at AuburnUndercover, which is an ESPN affiliate, Auburn version. I'm looking forward to this weekends match up with you guys. It should be a real interesting game to watch. I love some college football, thats for sure.

What I would like to do is open up a conversation with you about the match ups and your pros and cons if this is ok with you fellas. I will try to respond as much as possible for I will be in and out to do some actual work. I will try to get some more interaction with other fellow Auburns fans to join in to talk some good old fashioned SEC football.

One thing we can all agree on....our intensely strong dislike for all things bammer.

Welcome to the Nation. :hi:

PS When I read your linkback thread on AuburnUndercover I couldn't help but feel like I was seeing a Star Trek episode.

I have opened up some dialog with the Vols.
All that was missing is, "We come in peace". :)

Let's see...good offense vs. good defense one way.

Crappy defense vs. crappier offense the other way.

I think this match-up is oozing with intrigue.

First of all you have the two new staffs. One has come in with guns blazing making headlines and destroying recruiting left and right, even though he has a tough product to market on the field at this time.

The other came in and knew he had some talent and is trying to do most of his talking on the field.

Secondly, you have a high flying offense so far, but has it been tested like it will Saturday? We have a putrid pass game but a excellent run attack going against a pourous Defense.

Turnovers like always will make or break this game, also I think it is very important for the Vols to start fast...with our recent history it is very easy for our crowd to have the wind sucked out of our sails.

GO VOLS! Beat the War Tigers, Eagle's Damn...wait I am confused!

Underwoodx6,

I know a lot of what Gus Malzahn tries to do on offense is take what the defense gives him. With that said, how confident are you in your offense if we manage to stop the run without having to commit to it?

I have not personally seen much on your receivers, do you think they match up with an extremely physical Tennessee secondary?

I think the one thing being overlooked in this game is the battle in the trenches...I give TN the edge if Walker and Richard are healthy. The secondary should be able to pick off some scraps from teh running game and get a couple of int's. I think TN wins, mostly because Malzahn has never looked good against stout defenses. When he goes up against a defensively sound team his offenses are not as prolific (translation for Auburn fans...offenses ain't all that good)

Sorry about the long lay off before response, I had to step away for a bit.

Yes, there is a dislike for the bammers that goes beyond into unmeasured dimensions. You know if a suicide bomber was looking for them, it wouldnt be hard. Just look for the big ugly @$$ elephant and a houndstooth hat.

O yeah, by the way, this comes from the parallel universe:

Well I think we all can agree on one thing. Eric Berry will be on his A game.

Eric Berry is no doubt a monster DB. I hope that some of Chris Todds throwing off his back foot doesnt land in this guys hands. We have had a surprise for our DBs this year. The young freshmen Daren Bates has been lighting it up pretty good. We could have one of our own EBs in a few short years.

How much do I hate Bama, not so much. How much do I hate bammers, thats a different story. I actually have a good friend that is a Bama fan. There is a difference in a Bama fan and a bammer. A bammer is a freakin moron that is either blinded by the shadow of da "Bear" or is now practicing Saban worship at the "Crapstone"; or both, either way its paganism. I would rather stick an umbrella up their :eek:hmy: and open it than give them the opportunity to waste good rain water on their greasy backs.

You make good points. The only real test as far as a running game has been Noel Devine and his speed. Mostly we have faced spread offenses, which may or may not hurt us, I dont really know. Turnovers are very key. We will obviously focus on the Vols running attack, putting pressure on Crompton to make plays. This may be where the turnovers for you guys happen. Our may come on special teams, seriously though. Like you, I do believe its important for Auburn to take an early lead to take the crowd out of it as much as possible. Auburn will def. have to tackle better or it will be a long night in stopping the run.

Well, I feel much better now than I did at the beginning of the season, especially now that we can see Todds shoulder surgery has helped tremendously. He can put the ball on point, with nice touch. The RBs have been very good at the beginning. McCaleb may surprise you guys with his speed. Tate is a bruiser and fits well in a duo. I do think Kiffin will end up having to commit an extra guy to stop the run. Like you said Malzahn is looking for the mismatch. Either way, it will be one helluva chess game b/w Kiffin Sr. and Malzahn. The WR have impressed us all so far. Im eager to see how they react to a veteran secondary. I expect to see some big time hits and also some big time receptions. There will be some action in the secondary for sure.

Good to see you underwood. No matter how hard I try, I just can't really dredge up any hatred for UT. The thread with the pics of AU fans in various photoshopped environments was actually pretty hilarious. I think it will be a fairly evenly matched game. My fear is that it will all boil down to field position and special teams. That would not be the best scenario for us. Despite some rather nasty little jabs on this board, their fans don't nearly evoke the pure hatred that Bamr does. If Bamr were playing Al Queda, I'd like to see Osama score on an end-around, such is my hatred. Just saying.
WDE.
