A friend of mine who is an FSU fan said that FSU is looking at Lance Thompson to be their new linebackers coach. Anyone heard of this?

Somehow I think Lance will elect to stay with Monte Kiffin as linebackers coach rather than going down to FSU with that idiot Mickey Andrews.

No Vol asst. coaches are going anywhere unless they are offered head coaching jobs. They are all getting paid here and know they are part of an amazing staff. Would be stupid to go elsewhere for the same job IMO.

Like it has been said, (IMO) he is not leaving for the same job at FSU. He came here to learn from Monte.

If they offer him the DC job or something it may be a different story.

he'd go to FSU and be there maybe 2 yrs before they cleaned house. Not a good career move

There is so much turmoil at FSU right now, I don't see how anyone would want to coach there at this point. The university wants Bowden to quit and he doesn't want to. The players are getting mixed signals from the coaching staff as to who is in charge, thus causing discontent and mistrust. This has got to be affecting their recruiting very negatively. Sources close to Bowden and FSU agree it is time for him to go, however they want to wipe the slate clean and remove Fisher as well to start from scratch. Ouch.

I heard from my co-worker's, brother's sister's half-cousin's great aunt's 1/4 grandmother that this is in fact true. I knew this yesterday. I should have started a thread about it. OP, thanks for taking care of it for me.

From what I have read, the plan at FSU is that Jimbo Fisher is going to get control over personnel moves after this season. The University is going to allow him to hire a replacement for Andrews after this season. I think Bowden and Andrews are going out together.

Why in the world would he have left Alabama if that is the case? No way he leaves UT for FSU to be the LB coach. I think he leaves to become a DC in a few seasons.

Thing is......when Bowden decides to step down, does Andrews leave as well? I just think that several of the long time coaches hang it up when he leaves. Don't know what connections, if any, Jimbo and Thompson have, but I wouldn't poo poo the idea too much.

Didn't Fisher and Thompson work on the same staff for a short time with Saban at LSU?

This says it all-Quote from Thompson
"Thompson originally explained the move as a "business decision," and continues to follow that line today. His reasons, he has said, were tied to the desire to work for Monte Kiffin. Alabama could have matched the money UT paid Thompson, but as Thompson said in January: "I could have stayed at Alabama and been a recruiter, always been a recruiter, and five years from now I still would be the same guy."

hey is going to replace current LBs coach Chuck Amato ?? I think they may want to but as long as Bowden is there, no one is leaving from that staff

Andrews is stepping down at the end of this year. He had decided this before the season. It could be that Fisher does make the attempt to hire Thompson as his DC.

I bet the people who started this rumor are the same folks who was betting Gruden/Butch was going to the be HC at UT.
