Frustrating Thoughts on the UGA Game

you should change ur screen name

It's cool if you think a sub-60% FT shooter should keep the ball away from an 85% FT shooter at the end of the game when you are protecting a lead.

It is a novel approach to the gamel, but you are entitled to your opinion.

I read that part and had to laugh. Considering you did a lot of hating on guys in that post when they are all giving their all. I can't even believe I read that far. you know we won the ball game right?

Sorry -- here is the post meant for you:

Duh! We won. Duh! We beat the worst team in the SEC at home. :clapping:

:rock::dance2:

Better for your level of thinking?

Well considering everybody on the team but Maze and Chism shoot about 60% I'd say odds are if they're covered someone who shoots 60% is gonna end up with it at some point.

I have no such obsession. I made two points. Which of those two plays do you think were smart and why?

I didn't say he wasn't athletic; I didn't say he doesn't play good defense. I didn't say he isn't fast.

If you'll note in my first post in this thread, I said that JP will make a couple dumb plays per game. But it is beyond stupid to be harshly criticizing a guy that shot almost 70% from the field with 15 pts.

A win is a win man. You should be excited after every conference win.

I agree that he scored 15 points and got 7 rebounds.

Still waiting on someone to defend those two plays.

Folks -- it isn't hard to grasp. Read the sentences slowly.

Not sure who you are arguing with because I didn't say he had a bad game.

I suppose I should never underestimate the reading comprehension challenges of UT fans.

I understand that you are used to football and one play can ruin the game, but this is basketball, and that is not the case. Just because you decided to crawl out from under your rock tonight and postulate on things you don't understand, don't demean us for being right, when you finally realize you're an idiot....

I'll gladly respond to exactly what you said...

1. Can we now declare JP Prince to possess the lowest basketball IQ of anyone ever to wear the Orange and White?

No, we can't, because tonight he played smart, he attacked the zone at the elbow, he dished down low, and when our bigs received the ball up top he did what you are supposed to do from the wing against the song and that is attack the baseline.

0-1

A career sub-25% three point shooter decides to jack a 3 with the game close and under 3 minutes to go. What happens? Brick followed by UGA fast break and easy bucket. Then, when we finally get in the bonus, the career sub-60% FT shooter gets a rebound and decides to ignore Chism (77% FT shooter) and more importantly, Maze (85% FT shooter) and actually keep the ball and force UGA to foul him.

He secured one of his SEVEN rebounds and instead of making a bad play and forcing a pass, he decided to hold on to it because he knew they were coming after him to foul. He realizes he is a good, not great ft shooter but he has historically been very very solid in the closing minutes of numerous games at the line.

0-2

If there is a dumber BB player in college basketball, I wish he played for KY.

That's fine, I'm just happy we have JP

0-3

Oh, so he had TWO bad plays? With that absurd number, I can't believe he is even allowed on the court.

+1

Even John Wall turns it over a bunch. It happens. If 1 or 2 turnovers gets you this worked up then basketball just isnt the sport for you bud.

Were you complaining this much when Buzz was coaching? if so, your life probably sucked. I doubt you did tho.
and 6 is not correct, since tony jones does the substitutions. Every game is different, if you have a pattern, you will be eaten alive every game. Were not gonna lose the rest of our games or whatever you believe. Your complete disrespect for our basketball team is disappointing, enjoy a win for what its worth. Dont forget, your a fan, not a coach. Your opinion doesnt matter. Enjoy the rest of the season.

I don't really have an answer for any of that. Oh, yeah-
19-6 and ranked ahead of 327 other Div. 1 schools. We're not loaded and Bruce is playing the hand he's been dealt. I don't mean any of this in a mean spirited way. I just get tired sometimes.:good!:

We have 2 players on the team that show up every game and they are Chism and Prince. Prince will make a bad play but will make 2 good plays to make up for it. I believe the website to cry, whine and complain is govolsxtra. I just read the first line or 2 of each point. You may need to include a bibliography with your next post for it to be submitted.

Only thing is, Chism did the same thing, with about 27 seconds to go on the shot clock

Yeah, but it's not cool to bash on Chism. I don't think it's cool to bash anyone, outside of Woolridge, but some must have their goat, even when he plays like a champ....

Did Woolridge even play tonight?

Relative to Prince as a shooter, Chism might as well be Lawrence Bird.

Sure he can hit those shots, but at that stage of the game the clock was more important than the points.

It was almost as dumb as Prince's shot.

Give the guy a break. I'm sure that all of us are thrilled that we beat UGA and edged closer to the NCAA's. It is, however, painfully obvious that play akin to what we have lately seen will not get us past the first round or two. I don't really see a problem with pointing out areas that need improvement. He did name the thread "Frustrating Thoughts..."

I just think it's ridiculous that people start threads bashing Prince after one of his best games of the season.

JP is far from perfect, but he MUST be allowed to take that shot. Unlike what you portray, it was a good shot...it was wide open for God's sake! You can't play scared which is what, in effect, you are promoting.

Exactly... and if he keeps attacking the baseline and dunking teams will stop zoning us. The hi-lo feed is clutch against the zone (might be too much bball talk for some, apologies)

Late-game mistakes are more dire than early-game mistakes, no question about it. And if you are a bad three-point shooter, you should not be taking a trey with under three minutes to go. That IS stupid basketball. I don't know what UT's three-point shooting percentage is for the season, but it must be terrible.

Williams made a beautiful high low pass to Prince tonight. And it's a pretty decent play if Prince can attack the baseline and Chism can seal the middle man in the zone.

yeah if you can feed the short corner and get the high post to dive you can get a layup almost every time.
