Frustrated but we should not give up on Heupel

No one in large number is giving up on Heupel. My goodness.
Right. Most just acknowledge he isn’t a championship level coach and want him to take steps to get there. I don’t think he will ever win a title here, or even play for one, but I don’t want him gone. I want him to make staff changes and get help with managing clock, etc.

I have no trouble saying I think Lane Kiffin would do more here though.

Because Kiffin has completed for titles in his head coaching tenure?

He hasn’t had the resources he’d have here at this moment in CFB. It’s nuanced. He was never gonna have a chance at USC due to the NCAA ruling. He’s taking Ole Miss to the playoff . If you think Heupel is a better recruiter and coach(including the way they assemble a staff) then that’s fine. I simply believe Kiffin would do more than Heupel here. The key words in my statement were “I think…”

Bama fans wanted to can DeBoer after week 1. They are already posting his buyout numbers. Now they think DeBoer is a golden boy again and Ty Simpson is the runaway Heisman winner.

OM has probably been a top 5 program in NIL the last few years. And OM hasn't been dealing with scholly limitations. So yeah, I'd say Kiffin has absolutely had it easier at OM than he would have had here.

The idea of making a change right now is absurd. Be disappointed for sure this season, but lunacy to talk about firing CJH.
Yep, you talk about a mass exodus of players and all the recruiting for naught and next year will be our 1st off the Pruitt sanctions. I don't want to go back to the Dooley/Pruitt years it was a terrible saga.

Where did you get that info? I don’t see that. Here is one link

Also, I’d think if someone like him goes anywhere he’s gonna require even more. I’d also say that resources aren’t just NIL funds. Facilities, money for staff, support, etc etc. As I said, it’s simply my opinion based on what I’ve seen from both of them that he’d do more here. I don’t want Heupel gone but that’s who Id want if he were to leave for some reason. I’d also say that having the funds is one thing, but who you use them on is another.

I can respect that. But with that said after what he did here I would hope we can find someone else and looking at this year I don't think this is on the coach. He's out the team in position to have a chance to win every game this year. Maybe the Alabama game but the Georgia and Oklahoma game is just not executing.

Go Vols

From that link for one. Also, OM has consistently been pulling most of the top portal transfers. You don't do that without money.

Money for staff hasn't been an issue either. And this of course ignores the fact that they haven't been dealing with scholly limitations.

Lol. Tell me how JH missed the FG at the end of regulation against UGA?

How did he miss the chip shot fg Saturday night?

How did he block the wrong guy and cause the scoop and score Saturday night?

Lastly what was JH thinking about when he threw 2 of the worst intersections you will ever see Saturday night?

It's such a shame Volnation will miss you
Oh to be so old and yet not so wise. Do you really need a lesson how coaches continually put our players in positions they shouldn't be in? Give you one good example, since you brought it up. Let's add on 5 yards to our FG attempt against GA. You really, really, really want to blame that on the team?? Of course not, cuz you know exactly who mismanaged the clock, don't you??

Some on here sound that way.

Same ones that would be bellyaching if Heupel left to take another job, or if he were fired and we go out and get some mid major hopeful and descend back into the Dooley-Pruitt era.

Fair to criticize and I’ve done my fair share; the guy gets paid a lot of money to take the heat, but to actually want him gone at this point is insanity.

There are two instances that I place the blame squarely on Heupel

1. Not being more aggressive after the strip sack against Georgia in their territory
2. Not being more aggressive after the fumble recovery Saturday night.

You’ve gotta take advantage of turnovers. Other than that your post is spot on.

I am angry amd sympathize. This season has been a disaster outside of Aguilar. I am still not ready to give up on the coaching staff. They definitely need to make adjustments for 2026 but let's see what they do first. Recruiting is going very well.
I get the love for Joey but there have been several bright spots from kids other than qb1. Hood has balled out, Brazzel has been great, Staley has done a good job. They are glaring holes but there have been some great plays from kids on that team other than Joey. Matthews has even helped him out a lot. Give the credit where it’s due if we are doing that

You’ll always have “those” guys calling for a coach to be fired, especially on here lol.

I believe he does need to re-evaluate the coaching staff positions, we’ve seen the blunders throughout the season.

Are you starting a Don't Give Up on Kim Caldwell thread next to create drama?

Anyone wanting to fire Heupel is an idiot.

Doesn’t mean he isn’t above criticism but if you think there is a significant upgrade out there that would realistically leave their current school then you are just not bright.
