From WSU (cougars) board ........ interesting comment

These fans seem a little delusional, but from what I understand about the Washington dynamic, we would probably like most of those people. WSU fans are like the crazy football-loving mountain people of that state, sort of like us. Then Udub is like the rich bluebloods, sort of like Vandy, except the Huskies are actually a good football team. All I am saying is that Cougar fans are salt of the earth rednecks like us, just Washington style.
Having lived in the Seattle area for a couple of years when I was younger and working with both a Udub and Wazzou grad... you are absolutely right... with a pretty strong "Greek twist" for WSU. The guy was 4 or 5 years out of college and still wearing his frat gear to company picnics.

The Udub grad mocked me for using the word "fracas" and claimed it wasn't a real word. I really liked showing her the Webster's entry.

UW alums see the Apple Cup as a birthright.

Unless the change of venue, coaching, etc., has had a refreshing, zeroing out and DEVELOPMENTAL aspect to it, they're just kidding themselves. JG's problem is between the ears. It happens....to many, to include physically gifted athletes. As far as his career goes, he cannot perform on gameday. Can't do it. Lights are too bright or something. I don't wish ill will on anyone at this level, but when your decision making and accuracy suffer for 5 years, consistently, it isn't going to be solved by 1 simple year. Even that would be an anomaly.
QB is the most complex position to play.
CB is physically the hardest, but QB is the Air Traffic Controller position of football.

It's not easy being a a good QB. But MANY guys are and have been good QBs.
JG makes it look like its the most impossible position to produce at. He makes it look WAY harder than it really is. Bless his heart..

So i went to the WSU board to see what comments might be made about JG......here is the most interesting one..

"Guarantano had his issues at UT, however this will be the best offensive line he has ever played behind, and the offense weapons are better than anything he has had before. Sounds like he has something to prove, so if he just plays within himself and the system, he could have his best year ever, if he does, I don't expect the 2nd coming of Minshew, but if he plays well the Cougs have a great year, if he doesn't, well we have 2 other viable options."

another one....

"We do havr someone thats more then capable of getting them the ball and his name is Guarantano.

He did very well getting Tenessee WR's the ball, so much so, that he made the Top 10 statistical passers in Tenessee history list, and had pretty good company with the likes of Peyton Manning, also on that list.

His ability to get WR's the ball wasnt the issue. His issue was crap OL, crap defense, crap coaching, different systems, about 3,4,5,6 different coaches, in his time there, that made him inconsistent.

He shouldnt have those Problems a WSU.

He has NFL Quality WR's in Travell Harris, Calvin Jackson,Moore

He has a NFL RB

He has a NFL O Line and a 1st Round Draft pick OL in Abe Lucas.

And a better coach, and better system.

And he has experience.

If he can stay healthy, not get injured, like how he got injured, and thus only got 1 snap in the Spring game, he will be just fine.

Also in Spring Ball, in his first scrimmage, he went perfect, about 8 for 8, all completions, no incompletions. Led a drive for a TD, threw about a 23 to 33 yard TD pass, about 113 yards, NO INT's.

He has got the arm, can make all the throws.

He 'll do just fine, assuming JDL doesnt stupidly start again.

Guarantano is the favorite to start, its his job to lose."

Hes gooooooone. Let him be.

The kid didn't have a good career here but he gave us everything he had. Leave the kid alone

Most the time the people on this board were/still are throwing JG under the bus it is MORE RELATED to proving he is AVERAGE AT BEST TO THE KNUCKLEHEADS ON THIS BOARD THAT DON'T SEE IT AT ALL!!! It has never been people on the board trashing their favorite team's players. It was trying to get the idiots on this board to REALIZE IT WASN'T HC, OC, OL, WR'S, TE's, RB'S, or the WATERBOY'S FAULT that JG WASN'T SUCCESSFUL!!! It was JG'S inability to read a D, get rid of the ball quickly, and make ALL THE THROWS using TOUCH WHEN NEEDED and BULLET THROWS WHEN NEEDED!!! Those ARE THE FACTS!!!! It was never looking for reason's to bash the player. It is just stating he is AVERAGE D1 QB at BEST and NEVER EVEN CLOSE to being and AVERAGE SEC QB!!! Again, those are the facts!!!! The only time JG's issues could be blamed on someone other than himself was the fact you had a MORON HC that kept on SENDING JG back onto the field. JG did have a good game agains AU and the SECOND HALF against IU. Otherwise, his play was BELOW AVERAGE his ENTIRE CAREER AGAINST GOOD or GREAT TEAMS!!!!! I do hope he does well at WSU. But, I can see him getting benched and SULKING ABOUT IT ON TV like he did at UT!!!

I really do hope the best for him. You can’t say he doesn’t give it his best effort. Unfortunately, his best effort just isn’t very good. I hope that he has a great degree to fall back on.
He graduated with a Psychology degree I believe.

Wow. Delusion is strong with WSU.

Haven't read the whole thread and others may have mentioned - but the left side of the line was dominating when JG decided to go rogue and attempt his QB sneak against Bama resulting in one of the most embarrassing, stupidest plays I've seen in 50 years of watching, and a 14-point swing. He specialized in snatching defeat from the jaws of victory because he just didn't have it, just wasn't clutch. Hope he has a good year, but it would definitely be against form and an aberration.

You want to see delusion read some of the posts on this site. 9-3, beating Fla., stomping Pitt. USCe, kenlucky. Hope these delusional people are right, but doubt it.

No doubt. But the idea that WSU has better lineman, better running backs, better receivers, better _everything_ - and all those subpar players at UT is the reason JG had a rough go here is just kind of ridiculous. Almost every fan base has a degree of delusion, but this is a bit more extreme.

Players do well after they leave UT simply because they are playing in easy conferences. It just shows how hard it is to succeed in the SEC.
