I thought I was the only one, but I guess not.....

Yes folks, I like Georgia. I like them a lot, and behind much improved play from their future NFL’er Matt Stafford, I think Georgia will win the SEC and be in the conversation about playing for the BCS Championship. Stafford will be much improved and the 'Dogs are faster and more talented than you think on defense. Defensively they are perhaps the most talented team in the SEC. They are fast and very well coached and in the SEC with a physical fast defense and quarterback that doesn't turn the ball normally means success and lots of it.

The Georgia schedule is favorable with Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Auburn and Kentucky all at home in Athens and Florida in Jacksonville. October 6th in Knoxville verses Tennessee will be a war. The 'Vols will also be vastly improved this season and they will be playing much more physical. Former Tennessee players have pulled aside some of the current team members and had a heart to heart talk with them about being soft and not playing the physical brand of football UT fans are used to watching. The bottom line is Tennessee has great players and return perhaps the second-best quarterback in the SEC in Erik Ainge. If the 'Vols develop a ground game with LaMarcus Coker, look out. If not, it could be Phil Fullmer’s last go around in Knoxville. To say he’s on the hot seat is an understatement. It’s no secret they feel slighted on Rocky Top and this applies to players, coaches and fans. Local, regional and national media are overlooking this program and they are doing so because they have played soft football the past couple of seasons. Word has it, UT is taking the "us against them" attitude. We will see if it pays off. We will find out quick as the 'Vols travel to Gainesville on September 15th to face the reigning BCS Champions.

eh......GA's D the best in the conf? i don't know about that....SC may have something to say about that....i expect SC, LSU and Auburn to be up at the top of the D rankings in the conf at the end of the season......

and i'm not going to be shocked in any way shape or form if SC beats GA on Sep 8. We'll know alot about GA and SC during that game.....

I know I don't. LSU will by far have the best defense.

when did USC win three BCS titles? How are you going to write a blog claiming to be the voice of reason when you don'y know how many BCS championships a team has won.

That writer made so many comical assertions that I thought it was a elaborate joke with a punch line at the end.

Defensively they are perhaps the most talented team in the SEC.

This is without a doubt the most ridiculous preseason prediction I have seen. They couldn't stop anybody last year and they lost both Defensive Ends, 3 Linebackers and, oh by the way, they lost a starting Cornerback - Paul Oliver - to academics.

I am with my man regarding Georgia. I do not like them though they are the enemy, but if you go to my prediction thread this will be our hardest game no doubt. We are all afraid to admit Stafford is the real deal but it is reality. They got a big time back in this recruiting class and the rest of the offensive basically returned. I am not so much on this Georgia D thing, well coached absolutely. But, they have a challenge in getting that unit together this year. A high scoring game it will be when Smokey meets UGA. The bye week before the game and the home field is the only thing that makes me believe we are going to pull it off. If we do BCS is in our future.

Ridiculous assessment. Georgia is talented, but they're not the most talented team in the SEC. And that bulldog defense was horrendous last year - now they're the best unit in the SEC??? Gimme a break. This team is a longshot, at best, in the national title picture...they need to focus on Oklahoma State, and nothing more right now...I have a feeling they're in for a battle against the Cowboys.

The guy even misspelled Fulmer's last name...

Proof is in the pudding. Will he be the Stafford of the first half of last season? Not likely, most QBs once they get it keep it, like Ainge, barring injury with his talents he is a thorn in the SEC east's side. Our only hope is that D stays flat.

Yeah...because when I think of UGA coming to Neyland I think homefield advantage....

The proof IS in the pudding - it's just too bad that you're not looking deep enough into the pudding.

In those last 3 games, sure, Stafford threw 3 TDs and 1 INT. That's a whopping 12 TDs over the course of a regular season, big deal.

He played well in the Auburn win, but Lumpkin ran for over 100 yards at 5 yards per pop.

And Stafford was AWFUL in the GT and VT wins. Their offense had 255 yards in the GT win, and 200 in the VT win. They played 3 teams that had dismal quarterbacks. Their DEFENSE won the last 2 games.

Point taken--but I saw a QB who was learning not to press and take what the D gives him. Instead of believing with his arm and accuracy he can force it. Thus, the game is slowing down for him. But I admit he has not exploded yet.
I just can't see it going any other way barring injury.

"Since we don’t have a national poll anymore at SP.com, I’ll share with you my preseason Top 10."

1. Southern Cal
2. Georgia
3. Texas
4. West Virginia
5. LSU
6. Michigan
7. Oregon
8. Nebraska
9. Louisville
10. Virginia Tech

this is why they no longer have a national poll...
