I had to put this out here. Classic shamecock . . . .


things aren't as bad as they seem.
prior to the florida game, we lost by only a TD in each of our three losses. if a couple calls had went our way, we could have been undefeated going into florida, with 10 wins.

if we hadn't gotten off to such a bad start and hadn't given them 21 points in two minutes, the game would have been entirely different. would we have won? who knows, it is florida after all and with the exception of ole miss and possibly us if the cards had fallen our way, most of their opponents would have needed for UF to disband the football team to have a chance at winning. who knows, though, it could have happened and we would have played Bama last month.

now, the clemson game was a fluke. they had the Dabo thing going on and the mentality of our team was at a low due to the florida game. it's understandable. a few things go differently, and that game is much closer, if not a win.

and as for today, as another poster said, we were only a few turnovers and calls away from it being a real game. really, had the few calls and turnovers gone our way in previous games, we probably wouldn't have played on New Year's day, but that's a whole 'nother thing.

so yeah, i guess some can spin it that we were outscored 100-odd points - 20 or whatever in the final games of the season, but we were really only 3 touchdowns away from contending for a national title. :-/

a good portion of that fanbase is so overcome with delusion its pitiful. sc simply wasn't a good team this year.

i can't stop laughing my favorite part is about the clemson game being a "fluke" and blaming it on the florida loss... the clemson game wasn't even close its hilarious how that excuse can be made!\

the only fluke south carolina had all season was them actually winding up in a bowl game. they could have easily done worse.

I really do feel sorry for them...they're in complete disarray. You kind of just want to give 'em a hug and tell them..."well there's always next year, buddy."

I can't think of any losses we've had where we were just a few turnovers and a few calls away where it wouldn't have made a difference. Heck, UT would be undefeated and earned 11 NC's since '97 if those darn calls and turnovers had gone our way...:blink:

So, to make yourself feel better after your team gets pounded, just say something like, "If my team hadn't gotten dominated in every single facet of the game, the outcome might've been different."

Just… brilliant.

Well we were a 4th quarter collapse away from beating UCLA. If we had special teams Florida does go up 17 in the first quarter and it's a whole other ball game. If Crompton/Foster don't lay the ball in the end zone for AU we win that game. If those games go our way we're up for Bama so who knows how that goes? Same for South Cakilak. Then Fulmer doesn't get fired and we don't sleep walk through a Wyoming game. OMG WE WERE CLOSE TO A NEW YEAR DAY BOWL THIS YEAR GUYS!

I cannot feel any pity for the Cocks. I grew up in SC and had to listen to this drivel each and every year (including their winless season).

Ripped in part from a rivals.com post, the list below correctly sums up a Cocks fan:

You might be a Shamecock if:

1. If the best season your school has ever had involves a loss to Navy, you might be a Gamecock.

2. If you rival has a 30+ winning advantage in the series and you STILL think your program is on more solid ground, you might be a Gamecock.

3. If your program can take two coaches that won national champions elsewhere (Dietzel and Holtz) and turn them into losers, you might be a Gamecock.

4. If you can argue that your team is much better than your rival ten ways to Sunday in every category but the score (and believe it), you may be a Gamecock.

5. If you consider a two-year run of bowl victories the "glory years," you might be a Gamecock.

6. If your team ranks 16th in all time losses nation-wide and you still think you have a "storied program," you might be a Gamecock.

9. If your first bowl win EVER came in the era of corporate sponsorship and was named after an auto parts store and wasn't named simply after a fruit, a fabric, a sweetner or a flower, you might be a Gamecock.

10. If you never grow tired of saying "wait til next year," you might be a Gamecock.

And if the VOLS were not so tired after traveling to UCLA, we probably would have won that gave which would have given our players the confidence to go undefeated....:D
