I do think it's sad we don't have amateur leagues for sports like most countries, as we are the only country that combines both higher institutions of learning with our next level athletics. There should most certainly be an amateur league for players who just aren't smart enough to get into college but can play ball, as there are most likely quite a few athletes who can, talent wise, compete in the NFL, but just never get a shot because of the grades in college.

No offense bro, but if getting bashed by fans of your former school really gets to you this much, spend more time in the library and less time at Tin Roof.

I don't remember this bashing he is talking about...I remember people being dissapointed and saying it would be a pretty big loss for our defense but not any bashing. Must have missed that thread I guess.

I could never understand so called "fans" bashing our players. They are cowards hiding behind their avatars or pseudonyms and would never do it to the player's face. It is fair to criticize performance, but some of it is really uncalled for. JMO

It's really, really unfortunate that he felt he needed to clarify his position to keep the fans from tearing him down.

No offense bro, but maybe you should understand that it isn't as easy as it sounds to balance class, practice, workouts, and a social life. Most kids have a tough enough time balancing class and partying. He gave it his best shot and it didn't work out, leave your a$$hole comments to yourself.

I've always thought the same thing. It's analogous to making engineering and pre-med students pass physical fitness tests every semester to stay in school. There should be a route for these kids who have a lot of physical talent but for whatever reason can't keep up with the schoolwork. John Brown, the DT from a couple recruiting classes, ago is a perfect example. He was a huge talent coming out of high school, but from what I remember reading had a learning disability and couldn't cut it in college. I feel bad for those kids.

Didn't we get him from auburn because he couldnt make the grades to get in down there?? And now be cant make the grades here. Should have seen it comin. Wish him the best.

You can set the table, but that's it. I wouldn't say he "gave his all" You can't just play video games and "hang out' all the dang time. I would kill for the opportunity. In 20 years, he will think----wth did I do?

The student athlete myth is still a joke.

I feel bad for the kid.

He may have needed to try harder or he may have tried harder but just not been able to do it.

I personally don't know and neither does anyone else here.

Wish him the best of luck.
