A classy note to Vol fans on FB:

"While it was not my choice for Jalen to leave Tennessee (and we were adamant about this), this is a decision that he put a lot of thought into and certainly did not take lightly. It is not my place to discuss his business and the reasons that he’s decided to transfer, but at the end of the day, he believed that it was best for everyone. People are mad, hurt and very upset, and I understand that. Yet, the reality is if you don’t know what he has been through or what he is going through now, then it is very easy to speculate & judge, make up lies & rumors, or heaven forbid, actually believe them.

Jalen has chosen a different path. We don’t always agree with our children’s decisions, but nevertheless, you love and support them through it all no matter what. Thank you to all of our family, friends and Vol supporters that were so kind to us today. We are so thankful and appreciative to the University of Tennessee, the coaching staff and the wonderful fans for all the love and support throughout the years. Many blessings and much success to you all. 💕"

I wish we could just let this be the final word on Jalen. Classy, and would just let all parties move on.

I suspect Jalen should have stayed. But, that's with almost no internal information. I hope he's made the right decision for him in the long run. But, staying the rest of the season and working hard would seem smarter. I'm betting next season, he'd have some new coaches, break our total yards record, and move to the NFL earlier than by transferring.

Absolutely a classy note. It's bizarre that Hurd's Vol career came to this. And it is not going to be easy for him as leaving as junior is generally unwise. If he wants to play a different position, he's got to learn it first--and that takes time, and he's not going to have a lot of that at another school. Kids sometimes make emotional decisions--and kids can be VERY stubborn about them. I think he's going to regret it, but wish him the best.

He will have to sit out next year unless it's d2 or he can somehow graduate in 3 yrs and be a grad transfer. He may just get ready for the combine and take his nfl shot. Hope it works out for him and the Vols. What's done is done.

There was nothing plural in that statement. It was only "he" and "Jalen". Hurd has some bad people in his ear, no doubt about it. He is going completely in the wrong direction.

Sounds that way to me as well. I wonder why Hurd hasnt put any statements out about leaving. Or has he and I have just missed them

very well could be true.

I don't know anything, but that was interesting. It wasn't TOO supportive of Jalen, but she didn't dismiss him either. Obviously, the family will support their son ( I would too) but this doesn't seem like everyone was on board with this decision. I hate to be critical of kids on our team, but i have a real problem with this.

Well,

It was a very classy letter. Very well written.

I wasn't upset with his mom before and I promise not to be upset with her in the future. For having not given it any thought, I guess I am relieved to read his mom wasn't complicit in his decision.

The letter didn't tell me anything about why J. Hurd is leaving. I was informed I don't know what he's been through and what he's going through. I agree. I don't know.

J. Hurd is a man in college now and not a boy in highschool. He made a decision that seriously affects allot of other people. Whether I agree or disagree, like or dislike, think it's good or bad, etc. ..I would like to hear accountability from Jalen Hurd about why he made this decision.

I'm relieved Jalen wasn't pressured into this by his family. To the contrary, it appears they know exactly how dumb this transfer idea is.

So what's all of your opinions if Vol74 is his mom. It's got either be her or the father or some one very close. Vol74 was cancerous here and seemingly tried to root people against Jalen and always led on that Jalen deserved better than UT and he was taking himself out of games and complimented him for doing so.
