Looks to me like a fairly simple scenario (don't laugh) could see the Vols climb from the bottom of the SECE to a two-way share of 2nd place this weekend.

1. Kentucky loses at South Carolina on Thursday (very possible).
2. Floriday loses at LSU (very likely).
3. Vandy loses at Auburn (definitely).
4. We beat Georgia (possible).

I concede I may not be the first to consider this complicated scenario :), but it's not that far-fetched, really. This would really help to get some Vol chins up a little..it could be a nice weekend.

What are you thinking putting forth a positive scenario such as this?

I concur, all of the positive emotions posted on the board today could quite possible cause the board to implode:eek:lol:

ISaid I was staying away for the rest of the season, but after all this enthusiasm, I might just go Saturday

actually, to fine tune the scenario, the Vols could accomplish this two-way tie (for 2nd) regardless of the outcome of Thursday night's game. Boy, how the complexion could change in a hurry..but of course, if our D doesn't change, the complexion won't either.

It was our stirring effort against the Open Date, that has brought about this change in demeanour amongst the Vol faithful. Too bad every week can't be an open date.

As long as we are being optimistic... If Kentucky beats SC, and all the other games go as above we would be alone in second place in the East.

Kentucky with 0 losses, Tenn with 1 loss, everybody else with 2 losses.

Then Kentucky losses their next two games to LSU and Florida and we are in first place all alone. :)

I mentioned to my dad yesterday that Tennessee plays a tougher opponent than Ohio State does 11 of 12 weeks. I pointed out that this past week counts in that as well; UT had a bye and Ohio State played Minnesota.

I second the sentiment and while I have no problem with folks who want to get excited about the facts that the mighty Gators lost and the East is temporarily open, the reality of the situation is that UTK is a two loss team (blowout losses I might add) going into the first weekend of October and we have seen absolutely nothing on the field to warrant any rational belief that the Vols will win out.

Yea, get ready to get blasted by the Negative Vol Fans. Simple Threads that read "let's keep it positive" and people still can't refrain from posting on it without Negativity.

I LOVE the Scenario you have laid out and I think it will play out to the very game. I can't wait to repeat it over and over to my Co-Workers today to get them all worked up.

GO VOLS!

It always amazes me how much fun people have being "realists" (also known as pessimists). Some of us actually enjoy watching UT play.

You say potato...

There is nothing wrong with being a homer who shuns any criticism of the orange and gets excited over every single game win or lose. There is also nothing wrong with being a big picture type of fan who puts more emphasis on long term sustained success at the highest possible level than any single game or season.

I will believe that we have a shot at the sec when we prove that we can play on an sec level. To this point, that remains to be seen. Do I still root for the Vols, absolutely. But now with guarded optimism.

yes. The big difference right now for a lot of people who want a change is that for the first time the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is actually visible. Hyams and other pro-UTK media personalities have been spreading the word since the UF loss that a loss to the Dawgs will almost certainly do Fulmer in. I'm not going to root for UTK to lose but I can see why some people would feel that way.
