Hey all. I know I don't post here all that much especially during basketball season. For those who don't know I am a born and raised Jersey boy, recent graduate of the 'Cuse whose mom is a '70ish grad of UT (went to school with Fulmer, but dated some guy on the track team, she often says) mainly because we had and still have family down in Knoxville. I've been there for a couple of games, and identify with UT football as my team, obviously there are no other candidates in the area and with my dreadful alma mater. (For those, myself included who are looking for any reason to get rid of Phil, imagine having Greg Robinson as your coach!)

To the point, before I went to school at the Cuse in 02 I generally didn't have a favorite team, but when I did in the mid-late 90s and early 00s, it was the Vols. I loved those teams with great potential, with Tony Harris chucking up NBA 3's, John Higgins, Vince Yarbrough, etc. (How do you let Joe Forte play practically the whole 2nd half with 4 fouls?? How?!?!)

Obviously I jumped onto the Cuse when I started going there, and, lookie what happened my freshman year, a national championship, complete with me seeing them cut down the nets in Albany, and an undefeated home season capped with the insane 3-time-court-storming win over then #2 Pitt. I've stayed with the Cuse ever since, watching Gerry McNamara be hero more times than not. Now he's gone and left in his wake a collection of generally underachieving and overrated bums, I'm looking at you Terrence Roberts/Darryl Watkins.

So now I have a dillema. The 'Cuse bubble has shockingly burst. The committee obviously had some bad pretzels at a Big East venue, as every BE team to be considered for the field with the exception of Pitt/GTown either got screwed with their seeding, or was left out in favor of teams with shoddy resumes from average conferences (Stanford, Arkansas considering that SEC West, Xavier). I didn't expect a team without a true point guard and an often disappearing post prescence to do anything special in the Tourney, but I of course wanted to see them go.

This being said, I am asking you the good people of VolNation for a temporary Bandwagon Jumper Pass so I can adopt the Vols as my team for this tourney. I have plenty of experience with Yankee fans here who generally pick and choose when they want to be Yankee fans, so I know the right ways and wrong ways to be a bandwagon fan. I of course won't have the same passion as you all, but I'll at least have some history with the team, and I have cheers in reserve I was hoping to use for the Cuse.

So the question... can I hop on the bandwagon?

:)

Jump on in.. You might be a perminate addition in a couple years when we roll in an elite class in 2008. We'll be better next season as everyone returns except our poster boy Bradshaw.. So go ahead and converse with the hoop junkies like me, hatvol, ukvols, DowntownVol, and many others I havn't mentioned.:peace2:

I welcome your temporary jump from Orange to Big Orange. May the spirits of Donovan McNabb and Rony Seikaly keep and protect you.

Come on over cuse fan. But you might like this ride so much that you find it hard to jump back off. Coach Pearl is IT!

Comon in. Anybody wearing orange is a friend of mine (unless of course you root for FU or Texas). I hope you bring some luck. The Vols have some history to overcome.:clapping:

As an honorary Volsfan from a huge rival schoo, I can tell you that there is always plenty of room here for fans of other teams.

Thanks guys. I will be watching and rooting for you guys. Knoxville could use some winning karma come football season.

I've only seen the team play a handful of times this year. Lofton is a guy who can win games by himself with his shooting. Plus, it seems like he's more of a complete player. We already know from last year he can hit the big shot late in a close game.

The Pearl/Summitt thing was obviously hilarious. I'm not a fan of women's hoops in general, but at least Pat is a fan of the program. While I do like Pearl, I just get the feeling he'd jump out of here the first chance he gets.

I like the draw. LBSU is as unfrisky a 12 seed as you can get. Last year 'Cuse got screwed over for the 2nd year in a row (this year would be the 3rd, the first was playing Vermont in Worcester in 05) by having to play Texas A&M in the 5-12. LBSU is no Texas A&M, that's for sure. Plus, Virginia folded like a lawn chair in the ACC Tourney, this after a loss to Wake frickin Forest with a chance to clinch the ACC Tourney. They seem ripe for the picking to me. Heck, I like Albany to give them a good game in the first round!

I'd like to see UT get revenge for the only UT hoops game I've been able to see, UT-UVA in the 2000(?) Jimmy V Classic in the Meadowlands. Fortunately Terry Dean isn't on this Hoos squad.

Heh, I grew up with creamsicle orange, so I don't mind having a mix of UT orange in the fall and Cuse orange in the winter/spring. Knowing the way our AD Daryl Gro$$ bows down to Nike dollars, instead of changing our logo/jerseys every year, maybe the team colors will change soon! :bad:
