I just wanted to stop by a wish you guys luck. I'm sure getting screwed over by a child "pretending to be a coach" really sucks, but imo it's better for UT in the long run. Kiffin was not the coach for UT!
Hold your heads up high, you're Tennessee. You'll bounce back. Good luck finding the right coach.

Go Vols!
Go Hokies!!

Gator fan here. I just wanted to say that I almost laughed at Lane's pressy saying he left the program better after 14 months than when he found it. Over here we knew you guys would be competetive because your defense was already in place and was strong. We knew you would be in about every game you played.

You will be better off in the long run. Within 3 weeks you will find a good coach with integrity this time and you will recruit better people/players. Losing this guy now will just keep you out of probation.

Personally, I think the guy just got hit in the face with tough SEC play and decided to go the easy path to give himself a coaching name.

Anyway, my opinion, the timing isnt what you want but the result is. I would take the result any day.

Good post. I think you are spot on. All of us knew he wouldn't be here forever and we knew some of his behavorial problems weren't created out of building hype in the program. But as a fan, you want to believe that everything your coach is telling you is true. Unfortunately we found out how that works. With a big a$$ knife in the back.

I wanted to start my own thread, but since I can't, I'll just add on to this one..

From a Bama fan:

I'll start off by saying I have a tremendous amount of respect for the University of Tennessee and all of their accomplishments in College Football. They stand right alongside Alabama when it comes to historic programs in the college football world. I have never truly *hated* UT except on the Third Saturday in October, but that comes with the territory.
This is a blessing in disguise for Tennessee. The past year, I've said all along how Kiffin was not the right fit for the UT job. Nothing about him says "tradition," or "success," in my book. To me, Tennessee is (again, alongside Alabama) traditional and successful.
Given the recent mishaps at UT, the VolNation can rest assured that Tennessee will not be down long.. just as Alabama was not down long. It will be an interesting couple of years, to say the least, but Tennessee will never be a bottom-of-the-pack SEC team - even during troubling times.
The Third Saturday in October has always, and will always, scare the crap out of me.. no matter how good 'Bama may be, and how poor UT may be at the time. It is truly a rivalry game, but there is no outstanding hate from this Bama fan.
I will bid you all good luck on finding a new coach.. hopefully he will be the right fit for UT. I look forward to chatting with you all during the offseason, and maybe taking it into the season as well, if you'll have me.
Good luck, again (but not TOO much, of course!).

Well...for the record...I always felt his excuse that he HAD to fib about the Urban recruiting violation was a bunch of shiite. But with his father on staff, I assumed he got rode hard by Monte for lying...guess nothing's changed.
His dad is a great guy, but his son sure as hell fell a long way from the tree. After reading some of our players comments about how they tried to push that tired old "Wild Boy" routine...with the shirt ripping and such...as well as replacing some of our historical photos in the hallways with ones from his days while at USC...we are better off with him gone ASAP. Most of us gave him plenty of slack cause he seemed to have more fight in him than Fulmer did, and the staff seemed to be a really good one...for recruiting anyway.

In the final analysis, I think we learned a very valuable lesson...better to get a Head coach who will relish the challenge of the SEC, and isn't trying to use us for a pitstop/stepping stone for another coaching position. Mighty funny how we are suddenly seeing the world from the same lenses the rest of the SEC and NCAA is.

Just trying to have a little fun, during the time of darkness. lol Hopefully this message will prevent the riots. Thanks for your positive posts.

His dad is a great guy, and obviously loves his son a great deal and wants to help him get on the right track in his career. He loves him so much, in fact, that he appears oblivious to the fact that his son is a terrible terrible human being.

This really was a b!tch move by a completely self-centered douchebag, I feel for every UT fan out there. This is the most difficult thing a program can go through. The timing of it just adds insult to injury. Hopefully y'all can keep the majority of that recruiting class and find a coach who will actually embrace the UT tradition and keep the East balanced. I pray to God that Kiffin fails at USC.

BTW, 'sup Sabo?
