How can you be a leader of a football team and not know why one of your workhorse running backs wasn't ever on the field?? To me, this is the most disturbing thing I have ever witnessed in our football program!! How can any player (Montario Hardesty) have any confidence in his coach?? How can I....

We are quitters, we can't handle adversity and we have ZERO confidence out on the field....reflection of the staff!!

I truly believe Fulmer isn't going anywhere which I am beginning to think is NOT a good thing!!

Just for a second (forget about us, the fans) keep the mindset that Fulmer isn't leaving and we are stuck with him....Where does he go from here to make our football program better?? How can he earn the confidence in his players back?? How does he earn the respect of his team and coaches?? How does Phil Fulmer regain his confidence back so he can instill that in his players?? What are the little things he needs to do?? What are the BIG things he needs to do?? Is any of this possible??

I see this.....I see a head coach that is afraid to step on the toes of his OC.....Cut was a HC for a while and I think that is intimidating to CPF and he doesn't have the balls to be "hands on" interactive with the offense!! How does CPF handle this?? I think it is important the HC knows who is out on the field and why a player is not.....call me crazy!!

One of his best friends ever is the DC.....Does CPF have the balls to distinguish BUSINESS over personal relationships?? Again, I don't think he has the balls to step on these toes either....and maybe Chavis thinks his job is secure as long as ole buddy Phil is in charge!! I have an idea here how Phil could earn some respect back!

If you are a current player....what can CPF do to gain your trust, earn your respect and make you believe in yourself??

If you are a prospect....what can CPF do to gain your trust, earn your respect and eventually get you here??

Ok, I am not defending anyone (CPF can't be defended as of now).......I have asked the VolNation some questions, now lets see your opinions:

CPF isn't going anywhere.....

Mike Hamilton is not gonna make a move for at least 1 or 2 years away if at all

and CPF ain't gonna retire

I don't think there is anyone out there that can replace CPF right now and timing is the key with every hire and fire in business.....

So, forget about the haters and smarta**es, in your honest opinion if CPF isn't going anywhere and thats apparent.....what can he do to EARN respect and get his players productive??

Retire with as much dignity as possible (read: sooner rather than later)

That ain't gonna happen.....the firing would take place before he would walk and that ain't gonna happen for a while, we have the JoePa syndrome in this case....so where does CPF start to turn this around?

the point is....he's not going to turn it around. There comes a point when all bread goes stale, then mommy has to troop to the market and buy some more (pardon the sexist in me)

Refresh my memory vol fans

but didnt you build a 35,000 square foot edition to the 300 square foot trophy case @ ut when MR DAVID (the savoir) CUTCLIFF came back to town.

I distinctly remember fans saying no one would ever beat tn again, because Cutcliff was back with Fil PHulmer.

Someone once said be careful what u wish for

I think you are stuck with both (and the empty trophy case)

LOL

why?

and be ready for some rebuttal.

I see the Bammer smack talk is still stuck on probation.

You'd think that if people tried enough times, eventually they'd just accidentally say something funny.

I have no doubt that every last drop of it was funny when he said it aloud.

I think you are underestimating how close this situation has come to critical mass.

I do understand it......I bet Mike Hamilton is really in a pressure cooker.........but remember the timing thing, there is NO one out there that can better CPF now.....there is not 1 name that either the experts nor the fans or any media has brought up to indicate any kind of hope for a new coach!!

Mike Hamilton ain't even looking I bet.....

I am not sure he is a bammer fan. He posts on the tennessean.com all the time. He is in every UT thread trolling and bashing, but he refuses to say which team he roots for. He just says he is anti-UT

I say ban him now and get it over with

I was at a UT function yesterday, and word is that Fulmer has already told UT last season that '08 would be his last season.

So we got 1 more season. And I heard that Joker Phillips may be the next coach. We might hear something when UK and UT meet next..

There is a planned meeting i've heard from some of the supporters.

I've also heard that Hefney, and Coker are playing hurt with some damage that may end one, or boths season shortly.

Forget my thread.......he was at the function and CPF has done announced his retirement......Hefney out, Coker out soon!!

I bet he is.

And you don't need the biggest name in the game. You need the best prospect to begin the next era. You need the coach who will be the seed for another stable ten year run. Successful at each stop along the line, and now ready for a top ten caliber job.

OK....I agree with you.....just give me one name, hell, just give me their initials...and I will believe it!!

This is the point I am trying to make.....noone knows anything other then "Fire Fulmer" or clean house......I somewhat agree now......but the timing is terrible, there is noone out there available.......if we had a coaching candidate, it would be ALL OVER this board.......truth is, we don't, MH ain't looking......so what does CPF do to change our program??

LOL....These past 4-5 years have all been "long seasons".....THe seasons where we are supposed to be good....should beat most of our teams on the schedule but somehow we dont....this has been going on for a while ......I was one of the ones that until this year were wearing my orange colored glasses and saying "but he won the NC for us" kind a thing.....Thats why he is still here....he has his meal ticket in the 1998 NC
