Poole had more yards against Montana, than Richardson did against Kent St. Granted, Poole rushed 11 more times than Richardson, but he still averaged better per carry than Richardson did, IIRC. It was a slow start in the running game, but we got until Florida to fix that.

That may be, and I am not saying he won't get it corrected in time for cincy and sec play. I am saying in the one game I have to go from poole this year, no matter how much the line has to improve he was off his game. Atleast, he is off from where UT needs him to be.

Just remember, people were ready to anoint him the Heisman trophy winner, after the 1st half of the Oregon game.

I get that, but the times he didn't need to use vision, like powering out of the endzone, he couldn't get it done. I would expect a senior RB could power ahead to prevent a safety. That really disappointed me. Not to mention him putting the ball on the ground so many times. He has played the game long enough to know how to hang on to a wet ball. I wasn't overly impressed, but I was more impressed with lane.
Doggone right. He goes to the ground with the 1st contact regardless. I think this team could have a good offense IF and ONLY IF a good running game develops. Explore all options. Lane looked tough at times. Use Neal as a slot back for draws and screens. Try Toney and even line Fugate up at tailback at times and let him bull for yardage, especially on 3rd and short. The OL needs to get more physical on run blocking too.

ALOT of teams struggled yesterday in their opener - after sleeping on it, I don't see any need to panic.

Also, there were two things that made me smile outside of the UT game yesterday
1 - USC struggled at home vs Minn
2 - Marlon Brown continues to be a non-factor at UGA (good decision, MB)

And Bryce Brown couldn't crack the Eastern Kentucky D-Line.

they still managed to put up 70+ points.

We would have too if the coaches had of wanted to. If the coaches had called any play action passes on first down to the TE, their LBs and safety would have backed up, and we would not be discussing how pititful the OL and Poole are.

Not sure if everyone else watched as much FB as I watched yesterday, but I didn't see 1 team that looked good. Seems like there were turnovers and missed assignments on every team, every game. Hopefully in our case it's a case of first game jitters, and not bad coaching. My #1 concern, last year when we began to see pproblems about too many of too few men on the field, it really never fixed it's self. only reason we stopped talking about it was cause the season ended. I really hope the first game TO's and 1st game OL mediocrity doesn't last 1/2 or even 1/3 of the season. As to everyone elses problem, I enjoy good FB, I hope they fix their problem as well. (just not when they are playing us)

Exactly! When there is 8 to 9 guys in the box and you have 5 O lineman there's not going to be too many gaps to run through regardless if it is Montana. The 8 or 9 are gonna win most if not everytime.

No we don't!!! We have until Friday to fix it.

Cincy was the largest favorite in the country last week over any team at -43 points. I think that helps us put into perspective how bad Austin Peay was.

I watched college football all day yesterday too because I was hungover and Boise State actually looked really good, or top 5 good. LSU's defense and special teams looked great. Florida looked good and I didn't see Bama or FSU play, but I think they probably played well if the score indicated anything.

I guess the reality is that we looked like what we are or what we all thought we were. A middle of the pack team with tons of youth that showed glimpses of a very promising future. Pretty much everyone was predicting a regular season record somewhere in the range of 6-6 to 8-4. I that's what we all expected and that s exactly what we saw.

Head down, eyes down. I don't know how he see's anything, much less a gap. He needs to fix that and fast. Or he'll find himself watching from the pine.

Wow. How can you see what Poole sees? It's apparent people don't like Poole for whatever reason but last night wasn't his fault & Lane wasn't overly impressive. There was no night & day difference between the 2. There was an unblocked guy cutting Poole's legs virtually every play. The fumbles need to be fixed for sure though.
