Friday's Practice Updates

No worries, I'm goin...don't know if i'll get in but i'm going...B/C Eric F'n Berry tweeted that we should.

went to the practice today and thought we looked ok. our defense looked good (big surprise we have eric berry). The offense had its good points with Hardesty breaking a few big runs and Nuke, GJ, and Warren making some good catches. Crompton didn't do much for me, but i thought Stephens looked really good. He was more consistant and made the better throws, despite his struggles late in practice. Overall could have been better but pretty good. Can't wait to hear the pads poppin tomorrow

This is from John Adams and I think he nailed it:

There's Good Crompton and Bad Crompton, Good Stephens and Bad Stephens.

And you can't make it through a practice without seeing all four of them.

I'll take my chances with Stephens. Crompton is a head case and I'm starting to wonder if the kid has the mental capacity to take what he learns in installs and practice and apply it in game situations. Head case + learning disabilities= 5-7 record

Wasn't just JC that had UT at 5-7, it was the whole offense, coaching staff did a poor job in adapting a new offense, hopefully new staff will do better.

Other then fumbling hand off JC looked better then NS in games. I think some have a bias against him because of expectations. Stephens had none. And then again fumbling handoffs is ridiculous.

I REALLY hope they get that ironed out! I don't think I can take another season of fumbled hand offs & botched snaps! We must take care of the football. Crompton needs to learn not to STARE down his targeted receiver also.

Keep dreaming. I have been carefully watching video of every available snap that Crompton is taking. He just can't do it. He is incapable of looking off his wide outs. It would be one thing if he was a freshman, but to be in his fifth year of eligibility... well, that's something else entirely. :ermm:

If Crompton hasn't gotten it by now, he's not going to get it. Screwing up handoffs, staring down receivers, ground balls, are things that you can't blame the changes in offense on. Those things are universal across all offenses. He's a senior now. He shouldn't be making these mistakes. He just doesn't have what it takes.
