I have a question for the poster's on here that are bashing JC for the fumbled snap, have any of you ever played QB or at least tried to take a snap? I have and it is actually one of the hardest things to do on a football field. Your hands are in an unusual position receiving an egg shaped entity that is coming at a pretty good speed. So how bout we just calm down before some of you stroke out. We are still in 2 a days.

Were you the #1 or #2 Pro Style QB coming out of HS???? One can only defend Crompton so much. If he is fumbling snaps on a regular basis (it appears like this is not his first one this fall) then it is likely he will lose his starting job....I don't think expecting our QB to take a snap smoothly is too much to ask.

No I was not but I have at least experienced taking snaps,6 yrs worth. Even into my 6th year I would have a fumbled snap during practice, mainly because I was concentrating on a new play or the defense and was lackadaisical with the process.

A long time ago I was a quarterback in highschool as a freshman and then oddly ended up playing center (stopped growing, gained weight). Anyway,I was a center in high school, really the snap is not even close to being the hardest to do on the field. But when it starts going bad it goes all the way bad. Its like a hitch in your golf swing, you almost need a microscope to figure out what's going bad or who's screwing it up. I will say this... Every quarterback takes the snap different, as a center you want to snap the ball fast and put it in the same place every time. I had two quarterbacks behind me and one wanted the ball to hit his hands one way and the other wanted it another way. Going back and forth is not easy. But these guys are at a level and practice so much that the snap should be pretty fluid by now. Its like a receiver turning his head up field before he has secured the catch, overall bad hands, or maybe the center is just sloppy.

How does a 5th SR QB in college still fumble snaps? These little mistakes like this might be the reason he loses his job to Stephens. I keep going back and forth between who I think will be the starter because they both have bad days on different days. If he can't protect the ball from turnovers I will guarantee the staff picking Stephens. Crompton has more talent, but doofus needs to learn to take care of the freakin' ball.

So we are going back to calling Him names now. Can we not Wait till the seasons starts before you degrade Him. I sure He does not force them to let Him play.

wow got a bunch of softies on here. i dont think it is to much to ask the starting qb at tennessee to execute the most basic thing as a qb. if your in the spot light in american sports, your held to a cerain standard by the fans. thats just the way it is. figure it out or hit the road. i mean goodness hes playing college football not peewee.
