Freshman TE Brooks being moved to offensive line

Oh I agree. I think it could turn out to be a good move in the long run. Just not this year.

And it's not being done THIS year. Remember after his commitment before his junior year that this was a possibility. Maybe his physical training in the three successive nonplaying seasons was geared towards this?

I bet he's not happy about moving from TE to OL. Que up the Butch lied to him posts.

After two knee injuries, I'd bet he's grateful for an opportunity to play SEC football.

This.

He was the slowest TE in fall camp by a lot. He has a very large physical presence that would lend itself well to the O-line since he is RS'ing anyway. Long arms with decent mobility at his height says OT to me. I really like the move.

Charles McRae did pretty well switching from defensive line to O line. Turned it into a pretty good NFL career too. Had a pretty good offensive line coach to help his transition...

35-40lbs of mass isn't that tough to do. He's probably already 265ish. Douglas immediately came to mind. Sad ending on that one, but I hope the best for Brooks.

Perhaps his numerous knee injuries and surgeries have taken his speed and quickness to a level where he needs to bulk up and move inside in order to see the field in 18 or 19...

I doubt he sees the field this year unless the bottom falls out.

I would hate to think Brooks is doing better in blocking drills than guys recruited to be on the OL. With all the injuries, maybe Brooks is performing better than the other freshmen with intact RS, and goes back to TE next season?

All I know for sure is this staff likes to recruit players for one position, and move them to another position OFTEN. Anyone could name 10 random players from each recruiting class, choose his alternate position, and before they graduate, the move is made.

Even D4H could get some right.

Tennessee’s true freshman tight end is moving to offensive line, coach Butch Jones said during a news conference Monday. Jones thinks the 6-foot-5, 255-pound Brooks will make a smooth transition to the trenches.

Where is the tight end position with respect to the offensive line?

Brooks to OT is a great move.

He can put on 30 lbs of muscle in 8 months.

So we are in better shape at TE than tackle tayq.
