Freshman Contribution

Chandler and Smith definitely, I believe Crosby and Butler will see time out of necessity. Murphy might not make it in so I'm not sure any Freshman WRs see time. Because they were with the team in the spring I think Reid and Johnson will play and the surprise might be Bembry if he is fully healed, I believe if healthy he will be a beast on special teams immediately.

I'm not sure why, but Eric Crosby's film doesn't jump out at me. The plays where he is running the ball are impressive for his size...but I don't see the "Pop" off the ball at DL. I hope he surprises me.

He is a load and can jam up interior running lanes. I can see Crosby AND Bennett contributing early.

Yikes. Why didn't we recruit any receivers... I hope Josh Smith can play.

Jones and Palmer should be solid. Wouldn't surprise me if Palmer gets the earliest PT of all of them even if Murphy makes it in.

Young WRs aren't gonna see the field for us unless they can block anyway.

Trey and Ty of course. Both extreamly talented and both play at a position of need. Hopefully one of the D-lineman can contribute. Crosby and Butler I would imagine being the likely candidates. Now who we need to come in and make a big splash is one of the Defensive backs. I think Labruzza is going to be special. Hopefully he can come in and contribute early and often.

With the experience and talent we have at DB on 121 it's hard for me to see a true frosh come in and getting much PT.

I think Trey Smith and Ty Chandler will be the main contributers this coming up fall . Also , I think Solon page, Maleik Gray , and Will Ignont will be solid on special teams .

i fell in to that trap last year. i really thought they'd be a lot better.

so i've been hesitant this year to do it again. that said, with the addition of wiggins, some real experience from last year returning, and the change in the coach...i'm willing to get on board with this.

Ty Chandler and Trey Coleman will both contribute. I think they will be our #2 and #3 backs by mid season.

Murphy/Palmer/Jones will play. Will be one of them but I think there is a spot in the two deep for one FR WR to have a nice year.

I also see Butler being big at DE and maybe Thaxton or Bembry too. We are thin here and with an injury or two we will rely heavy on the Freshmen.

Trey Smith is going to play a ton of snaps and really help in the run game. Can't wait.

10-2 this Fall IMO.

Talent, ya I'll give you that. Experience, so far it has not been a good experience for any of our Db's.

We have a new DB coach. I seriously doubt unless they are the EB level of talent that a new DB coach is going to start an inexperienced frosh in the SEC over similarly talented experienced DBs. The last thing our new DB coach wants to see or we as Vol fans as well are the lights to come on and a freshman do multiple brain freezes. If the freshman is head and shoulders over the others, sure put him out there but I don't see that with this group coming to The Hill.

I agree, and hopefully Coach Warren can help The light come on for guys like Martin and Mosley. I just think coming in Labruzza could push for playing time. I could be wrong but I see him as a Cam Sutton type player.

Only concern with Trey contributing as much early on as the consensus thinks he will is the gigantic step up in competition. Enrolling early will help but it's a giant step from TN small school private ball to SEC football. You can practice and scrimmage all you want but there's an acclimation period to get used to playing 60-70 snaps a game against a SEC line when compared to playing 60-70 snaps against 5'10 205 lb DEs who run a 5.2 40.

Yup, just ask Richmond. Although, Trey seems to not only be more physically imposing though, he also seems to have a nastier and more determined demeanor than Richmond did at his freshman year.
