Here is a side by side comparison to Freeze's offense to Chip Lindsey's offense at AU

Note.....just because someone is the offensive coordinator doesn't mean he get ALL the credit or ALL the blame. Same goes for the head coach he doesn't get all the credit for the offense just because he is the head coach....................

What are the numbers for the OCs at bummer and Clemson? I'm a big stats fan but they can be twisted several different ways. Both guys would be great hires I feel, I do like Freeze a bit more as Pruitt can turn offensive side entirely to Freeze while focusing mainly on the defensive side of things.

Locksley's career stats are absolutely, laughably terrible. And 3-31 as a HC.

Illinois:
2005 17 ppg
2006 19 ppg
2007 27 ppg
2008 28 ppg

New Mexico
2009 16 ppg
2010 16 ppg
2011 12 ppg

Maryland
2012 20 ppg
2013 26 ppg
2014 28.5 ppg
2015 24.5 ppg

this gives a small window into performance but the quality of opponent at SM, ASU and Southern Miss is not quite the same as the SEC west week after week. That being said I would give a slight edge to Freeze but Lindsay's are a lot better than we have done for the last decade - ish.........

btw Freeze had 2 Ark St offenses -
2010 30 ppg
2011 32.5 ppg

And at Lambuth (juco) he averaged about 37 ppg. Only a single season ever below 30 ppg.

Sure, but talent is relative. Your players are worse and so are your opponents'.

Yeah I don't mind Lindsay either, except Stidham turning into a total and complete putz this year is worrisome.

That's what happens when you can't run the football in this league. Boys vs men in the trenches will make any qb look bad.

So, you are saying that Hugh Freeze (after inheriting Houston Nutt's mess) averaged 32.6 PPG at a historic bottom feeder while Lindsay averaged 31PPG at a more prominent SEC school with better athletes...

interesting for sure, so the following...

freeze 5 yr average 288.8p 179.2r 37.6ppg
lindsay 5 yr average 259.8p 161.2r 30.86ppg

so everything else considered equal (talent level, schedule, influence on play calling), they are fairly even with the edge going to freeze.

Not totaly, the smaller schools get the hell beat out of them two or three times per year causing their stats to be lowered while AU gets 3 cupcakes to inflate their stats. Smaler schools are not attracting 5* players but they have to play them each year. 1 game can really lower team stats for the year.

I'm not sure you can take a lot from Chip Lindsey's time at Auburn. From everything I know about the AU program, Gus Malzahn has not, nor will he ever, turn the offense over to anyone. He hired Chip Lindsey because he was under a lot of pressure from the power brokers. They wanted new ideas, etc., on offense. Last year AU caught lightening in bottle with an all-world RB, a very good OL, and Jared Stidham at QB. This year AU struggled without a top notch OL, or RB. Lindsey may be a great OC, and if Pruitt hires him, he'll get plenty of rope.

Freeze is more of a known quantity. He had solid offenses at Ole Miss, especially in 2015.

If it's between these two candidates, I'd lean toward Hugh Freeze.

Actually that adds up to 32.6 for Freeze and 31.3 for Lindsey. (Actual points divided by actual games.)

That’s exactly what he is saying.
Nutt’s Mess at that historic bottom feeder had just as good of athletes though, you can do a pretty quick build up of talent when you have “escorts” on speed dial and bags full of cash😂😂😂😂

I've already said that I think Freeze is overrated on this board by folks who are all agog at the Alabama games. Overall results have been way less impressive.

So... conference ranking in points per game in just conference games:
Freeze: 6th, 9th, 8th, 2nd, 4th, 5th
Bajakian/Debord: 12th, 7th, 3rd, 2nd
Lindsey (at Auburn): 1st, 9th

I'll also add that, while I'm in favor of Lindsey over Freeze, it's quite possible that Todd Monken was calling the plays at Southern Miss. (Maybe someone on here has more info on that.) Having said that, Southern Miss ranked 11th in their conference (again, conference games only) in scoring in 2014. Lindsey joined in 2015 where they had one season at 12th and the next at 2nd (and 13th in the country overall). He worked wonders developing Nick Mullens. (Quoted the numbers elsewhere and won't do it again here.)

Well it looks like Freeze was in the top 5 of the SEC his las three years there. So Lindsey has one really good year at Auburn and either this year hit a wall, talent, coaches??? Not sure what to think. Maybe that is why he wants to leave, becuase he is going to get run out of town becuase they couln't even score on our woeful defense.

I will take either Freeze or Lindsey. Either one of them have had experience in the SEC, think Freeze would be a better recruiter and might give the edge to Freeze, but now going to burn any couches if we dont get him. If we DO get him not going to be like..." WE GONNA be grayt thus year boys, lights out!!"

If it’s Lindsey, how is VN going to react? Guys a good coach. Are all the eggs being put in one basket.......leaving a complete meltdown a real possibility.

Either Freeze or Lindsey would be a positive!
JMO.......and hoping for Freeze

Points per game is a stupid metric; I want to know points per possession. 30ppg on 10 possessions is good. 30ppg on 15 possessions stinks.
