Anybody catch him this evening with the regular crew?
I heard him say a couple of things that had me swerving at the center line...
1. In four years at Tennessee, he cannot recall seeing a player who played great in practice and horribly in a game; in his opinion it was mostly because the defense had a habit of punishing the offensive players in practice
2. In particular, he cited the case of Brian Darden, who was the fastest, most elusive back on the team (to Fred's recollection), but who had an aversion to contact. According to Fred, the defense would tee off on him without mercy and cause him to fumble on a regular basis. As such, he rarely saw the field and never fumbled in a game (it was at this point that I busted a gut laughing)
Upon further reflection, it seems that this is exactly as it should be.
Does anyone remember the last time our QB's went without the green jerseys? I want to recall that Ainge, Schaffer, & R. Clausen went without in '04.
