Just like when you were 5 you thought your dad could beat up your buddy's dad.

He's biased and can't be objective.

If they named Chavis as head coach....I would never root for TN again. That would be the WORST decision MH could possibly make. JC used to go to my church when I lived in TN. I cant stand the guy.

What got me about it was the the complete denial he is obviously in to make such a statement...

He made this proclaimation with complete sincerity...you could tell that he really believed it...it wasn't a symbolic gesture or anything like that

I don't think he wants to be the head coach. He has said it before that he wouldn't want to that. I think he isn't even on the list.

BUT he has done a great job this year with our guys. Too bad we have an Offense that can't score or who knows what the year could have been.

Good job this year Chief!

Call and tell him to put the crack pipe down and slowly step away from the microphone...It's going to be alright

Actually JC said he was the perfect choice. I usually like FW's commentary but not this time.

How awesome (in a bad way) would it be if even after hiring the search firm to find a new coach they came up with Chavis as the guy?

We do not need former and current players like Miami and UNC choosing their coaches. Look where Coker and Torbush took their programs. Players should stay the hell out of the process.

Jimmy Sexton said this morning that Hamilton will use the same search model he used to get Pearl. Find a coach that is doing well with limited resources and then let him explode with UT's resources.

He went on to say that the majority of UT fans will be initially disappointed with the announcement of the new coach. His opinion only and also said that it is too early in the process for him to guess who the coach will be. But knowing Hamilton, this was his assessment.

Of course it may seem like the majority of Vol fans will disagree with whomever is hired. Just look at all the coaches getting pimped here on Volnation. Gruden, Kiffin, Davis, Leach, Patterson, Kelly, etc... No matter who is hired, quite a few fans will want someone else.

Also, there is no way Chavis would be the next HC. If he had the ambition to be the main guy in Knoxville, Fulmer would've discarded him long ago. Fulmer refused to surround himself with coaches that would have enough ambition to do the same thing to him that he did to Majors.

Almost all players have a blind spot when it comes to the coach they played for. I believe Chavis was thes defensive coordinator when Fred White was a player at UT. Not difficult to see they likely had a close relationship, as Fred was a leader on the defense.

We would have the worst recruiting in the country and eventually get booted out of the SEC as an embarassment if that were to happen. We would also play prevent zone on every play and set the all-time record every season for most minutes on the field by a defense.
