*****Freak's Friday Night before the Kentucky game, admittedly off topic thread

Home alone trying to finish getting over whatever strand of flu the shot didn't cover. Wife and girls are traveling to a clogging competition. Left me, the dogs and the cat to drink beer and watch football. Surprisingly enough the cat hangs longer than either dog.

Did you actually test positive for influenza? We haven't seen any in my office or the local hospitals.

So, in case everyone forgot and is still focused on Tennessee's abysmal performance against Charlotte, the Vols have a HUGE game tomorrow against No. 11/12 Kentucky at Neyland Stadium. No doubut about it, this is a big game. Big.

Tomorrow, Tennessee can deal a defeating blow to the Wildcats if, in one of their best seasons in my lifetime, one of the worst Tennessee teams can put them in their place.

I know the Vols were pathetic against Charlotte, but if you're looking for reasons to be optimistic, here are a few reasons I like Tennessee's chances tomorrow.

1. Regardless of what some here will tell you, Tennessee isn't as bad as the Charlotte game. This team had shown improvement all season and fans were very optimistic after the Auburn win. This is still the same team. Charlotte was a textbook trap game, sandwiched between a big game at South Carolina that Jeremy Pruitt had circled on his calendar and this week's matchup against No. 12 Kentucky. Both players and coaches looked past Charlotte, despite Pruitt's efforts to tell everyone who would listen that it would be a tough game.

2. We get some much needed bodies back in the lineup. Tennessee missed Jauan Jennings and Ty Chandler last week. Those are two of our best skill players and even though they can't help our line block, they are two of our best playmakers. With them back, and hopefully 100% this week, it should add two very important pieces to the offense.

3. Kentucky hasn't won in Neyland since 1984. I know these are different teams, but think Tennessee and Florida.

4. Kentucky hasn't won in Neyland since 1984. We're 16-0 during that time.

Now that we have my rant out of the way, what's everyone up to tonight? Anyone at the basketball game?

The Official #6 Tennessee vs. Louisiana Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, SEC Network+

Who's checking out high school playoff football tonight?

If you're coming in town for the game tomorrow, let me know how long your trip is. It's always interesting to see who travels the furthest each week.

Who's tailgating?

Finally, if you're not going to the game, let me know what's on your weekend agenda? Other sports, food, shopping, etc. What other college games do you plan to watch?

Go Vols!

I have to work all weekend to plan for a big dinner for about 400 and also be a manager on duty at my job, but will record all the games that I want to watch for when I get off.

In North Carolina visiting my daughter who is in the Air Force. Won't get to watch any football tomorrow. We took her for dinner tonight, and she picked Texas roadhouse. Great meal, especially since I ate half of my wife's steak!

Are you kidding? I don't trust doctors. Lol

Seriously tho, I didn't get tested so it's not confirmed. I spoke with a Dr buddy at a local Heath department (they seem to know before anyone) and he said its around but not widespread. I'm not sure which strand. My symptoms seemed to fit but we know that doesn't mean anything with all the bugs that mimic the flu. I have been in bed since Monday afternoon. Finally went out this evening to get beer and snacks for tomorrow. I'm on the road to recovery now.

Ha! I'll try to not be offended.

There is a lot of crud going around, and you're right -- other viruses can cause similar symptoms. There really isn't much influenza circulating yet, though.

Same in my part of Georgia. Lots of virus stuff, but haven't heard anything about the flu yet.

Just finished watching the replay of the BB game. We need to work on rebounding, but otherwise, it was a great performance. I'm really excited about this season.

I might fire up the electric for a bit, as I went down a hair-metal rabbit hole this week and found a ridiculous Line6 Poison-esque guitar tone. I hate that the current generation has literally zero fun rock music.

It drives me nuts when patients demand antibiotics at the first sign of anything. I treated myself with zinc at onset, ibuprofen for the low grade fever and plenty of rest. I did take a hit of the good stuff for that nagging night time cough due to drainage. Not officially Dr recommended BTW.

Just got home from a wedding. (Yes, they're holding weddings in Nashville on Fridays now because wedding places are booked all the time and apparently you can get a better deal on a day other than Saturday.) Actually a great wedding.
Getting up at the crack of dawn to head over for my first visit to Neyland this year. Pumped about that. See you around Circle Park.

Just got back from a two drive from Atlanta after watching my daughters High get the crap kicked out them by Marist. They had a Notre Dame commit that I had never heard of, Kyle Hamilton, that was pretty impressive from the little bit he played. 6’3 190 lbs and was fast. I think he is rated the # 22 commit on 247

Had dinner with wife, son & daughter-in-law. Up early Saturday to head eastward...going through Knoxville enroute to Myrtle Beach. Be decked out in BIG ORANGE. Was in Neyland in 1984 when Cats beat us; only worse feeling is when vandie has beaten us. Time to turn this BIG ORANGE TRAIN around!
