Lane is already making $9 million a year in Oxford. He’d likely have to take less money to go to Florida. If he wanted out of OM, he would’ve taken the Auburn job when he had the chance. He knows he has a reputation as a job hopper and I think he wants to end that.

There's a documentary coming out in 2 days on Lane that Paul Finebaum says will make it obvious he's entrenched at Ole Miss and not going anywhere. Still all over the internet I see fan bases displeased with their coach suggesting him as a possibility.

Yes, over the next few years. Clemson, Florida State, and North Carolina first. Then probably Miami. Big Ten and SEC get first dibs. Is there a chance the rest stay and try to rebuild —maybe. More likely is the Big 12 comes in and takes most of the rest. Syracuse, Wake Forest, and Boston College are in trouble. MAYBE the Big 12 will put up with Dukes usually bad football program because of their basketball history? Cal and Stanford would be nuts to stay in the watered down ACC and will have to go back to the PAC 12 with their tails between their legs. Depending on how much of a penalty schools want to pay, the first schools will make announcements to leave within 24 months and be gone by 2030.

The coaching market is so different from what it once was prior to all these bloated contracts around the country. There are far fewer hirable coaches willing to move from where they are to a place like Florida with not great NIL support and a ridiculously suspect administration.

There were zero coaching changes in the SEC last year for instance and that includes 16 schools now.

I believe coaches like Golesh and Fran Brown are going to be at a premium and can be super selective with their next jobs. There will be better opportunities than Florida for both of them.

I think few truly understand the situation Florida finds itself in. If it does fork over 21 million to fire Billy, where does it come up with the money it would take to pay a ridiculous buyout it would take to hire a coach with a good track record at a P4 school? And he has a ridiculously bloated staff that have guarantees in their contracts too if they are let go.

They won't want to go G5 again but may have to. And then that coach has to buy a new roster because there will likely be a mass exodus in the portal whenever Billy is fired. UF boosters are already reluctant to support NIL.

What would not surprise me is if he uses a job that he has no intention on taking to get a better deal at USF. They are investing in their football program. They've made commitments to him. He can afford to be picky with his next job. There aren't many better candidates that would be easy to pry away.

New stadium opens in 2027. Not big, but I have always thought an on campus stadium is better than an off campus stadium.

Florida is going to do what we always did in coaching searches and name a lot of great names that they want and will end up with some unknown that may or may not be any count.
