Fran Brown is 13-4 as Syracuse coach.

If it gets him the Florida job, it would be bad for UT.
I would happily take him as their coach over the other potential options such as Kiffin, Cignetti, Drinkwitz, or even Golesh. Fran Brown may be a really good coach. Or he may have a future HC at OC on his staff. Or he has had two really good QBs fall in his lap, etc. There is still alot unknown about Fran. But either way he has done a great job to this point. I am just not sure how sustainable that success is or if it will translate in the SEC.

I think 8-4 is very reasonable for Syracuse now. Winnable games include Duke, SMU, Pitt, UNC, and Boston College. They will have a tougher time with Georgia Tech, Miami, and Notre Dame. 8-4 with their schedule would be an accomplishment. And this would be great for UT.
only if we take care of our own business

He has his guys playing with the “never give up” mentality…the loss of his #1 QB will be tough but they should still be able to win 8 games if they bring their A game each week.

agree... I never felt comfortable even with a 17 point lead because the 'cuse played hard every down (I do think the refs f-uped the punt touching the 'cuse player call tho).

TN needs to go 10-2 to be safe so they only have 1 loss left to even give. I am more concerned with the teams that we haven't played yet right now.

The Florida site says you're wrong (at least regarding candidacy).

Why do you think this proves anything? There are multiple reasons that will never happen but I'll leave it at there are members of Florida's UAA who will never let it happen. Well-known in Florida booster circles.

Yea, those guys were not going to be out hustled - they worked hard on every play and that’s something the coaches instill

Assuming we take care of business this weekend, November 1st is a playoff game. OU will probably come into town undefeated or at the very unlikely worst a 2 loss team. They have Texas, @ South Carolina and then Ole Miss at home. I would take them over Texas and USC jr right now, Ole Miss as a toss up. We could very well be at 2 losses if we drop one in Tuscaloosa. Neyland needs to be at another level w/ a potential top 3 OU team coming into town.

Vols getting the benefits from beating the Cuse as they have turned out to be a pretty good team and LSU got a lot of mileage from beating Clemson 1st game of the season when Clemson ranked very high. Strange how the polls work sometimes.

If the Cuse can keep winning, Vols SOS improves.
If Cuse's stock is rising, then why are we stuck at #15? The obvious answer - they hate us. Volphobes.

Why. I'm pretty sure their booster like to win. Lane wins. This is the same school that rode Steve Spurrier for years. The premise it was never happen is what's wrong. He will absolutely be at the top of the list. Whether he's the hire or not who knows but to suggest he's not going to be one of the top 3 candidates there is beyond naive.

It is absolutely not the same school. Spurrier was hired in 1989. I wasn't even referring to boosters but there are also boosters who don't want Lane too.

Lane would never in a million years take that job because he would require more control over the program than the UAA is willing to give any coach. And the UAA wouldn't hire him because of that. If the boosters were so obsessed with winning, then why don't they support their NIL program to a greater degree? It's one of the worst-funded in the conference every year. Lagway is being paid primarily through Corporate NIL deals and not Florida's collective. Napier makes 7.4 million/yr. Lane already makes 9 and every year he wins 7 regular season games he gets an automatic year extension. And Lane is entrenched at Ole Miss. His entire family is in Oxford now.

I was hoping Syracuse would end the year ranked and make us look even better, without their starting QB that could be a tough chore but they are in the garbage ACC so who knows?

I felt like that too when I saw Angeli go down but Fran was smart. He went out and got 2 QBs to compete for the starting job in the offseason so he's still got a guy who nearly beat out Angeli.
