Pretty good article comparing stats against schedule. Dobbs isn't as bad as some thought.....d4h

Joshua Dobbs: Vols QB On Par With DeShaun Watson Through Four Games | FOX Sports

Meanwhile, after the Appalachian State game, Dobbs came away with five total touchdowns against the Virginia Tech Hokies, added another three against the Ohio Bobcats, and had the game of the year against the Florida Gators with 300 passing yards and four touchdowns to go with 80 rushing yards and a touchdown.

All of a sudden, through four games, Dobbs has only 70 fewer total yards than Watson. Meanwhile, he has five more total touchdowns. And while Watson has a better QBR, Dobbs has a better Adjusted QBR.

Want to talk schedule strength? Dobbs has faced far and away the statistically toughest defense in the Florida Gators, ranked No. 8 in rush defense and No. 10 in pass defense. None of Clemson’s opponents have reached the Top 10 in either category.

I will be the first to admit that this is pretty surprising. Especially since Watson got Williams back. Its still a long way to go until the end of the season but still shocking.

Surprising really. Throw in the leadership and his command of the huddle and it could be said he is better than Watson, and that is a helluva comparison.

That is surprising. Stats can be skewed though. As long as we keep winning, that is all we all care about. The accolades and awards will come.

They can be skewed. And in this case, they are skewed. Dobbs had 5 drops on Saturday (one for an easy td by Croom) that would account for the 70 total yards he is behind Watson right now. Dobbs also has played a tougher schedule. Kinda makes you look at the rankings and wonder why Clemson is ranked so much higher that Tennessee so far. Clemson has taken on lesser teams to this point. The Vols schedule will begin to ease up in 3 weeks. Then watch Dobbs numbers take off. Could be a big season on Rocky Top.

When Dobbs is on, they are not that far apart talent wise.

This forum is crazier than Murdock from The A-Team. One day it's Dobbs can't do anything and the next it's he's awesome.....

The dude is a ball player and deserves a ton of credit.

Combination of Watson really struggling early and Dobbs, when given the opportunities (typically when we're trailing by 2 tds or more) being able to put big numbers on the board. Clearly Josh has improved his down the field passing accuracy. Dobbs, while not the best overall passer any of us have ever seen, is clearly a special talent. When he's clicking both running and passing he's something else and puts up big numbers.

Hopefully Dormady gets some playing time too.
