I can't take someone that starts his article out with "Words mean things" seriously.

Wow. I couldn't even read the whole article. Note to media: Kiffin stopped saying things. This was back in FEB when he said what he did. All these terrible writers are trying to cash in on the "Let's Bash Kiffin and UT Spree" It's pathetic. It was old then and it's old now. I can only imagine how many "stories" will be out friday and saturday...

Im just guess but is this guy on the Florida wagon to?

What sports writer ISN'T on the Florida bandwagon? They've already anointed Tebow the greatest college FB player of all time, next they'll be nominating Urban Meyer for sainthood.

The easy journalism (attempt) at feeding a story is to copy everybody else and assume that position...it requires "ZERO" work or thinking and fulfills the quota for the day. Freeman at CBS is the only journalist taking the "antagonistic" approach to the flood of bandwagon LAZY reporters.

My name for it is "Clintonology"...find popular public opinion for the day and say "I'm for it"...aka Paul Finebaum...he makes a living at it in Alabama.

There are a lot of people waiting to pounce if/when we lose. Don't get me wrong, but Kiffin has put a bulls eye on UT. I like the fire but would like to see it toned down a little (even if we are winning).

you know with all the media making this game out to be a display of what happens when you smart off to the bully, it is actually working in our favor. we know in all probability we're going to lose saturday and I don't honestly believe that anyone will be surprised by a defeat(Vols fans that is) but this media circus has put a lot of pressure on UF. I mean everyone is expecting UF to hang 50 or 60 on us. I don't think we will win and I believe the vol faithful will accept it (not enjoy or like it)however if Florida is unable to dominate us the way the media is more or less predicting then what does that say about them? I mean we're just sloppy ole Tennessee with a young coach who talks to much and yall are the invincible UF. I have coached on both sides of this and I always like being the underdog. We aint got nothing to lose. I mean you come out and beat us 42-0.......i mean so? you come out and beat us 31-24......then uh what happened? you come out and lose(which you won't) but still...........I really don't know what would happen.

The media just makes me sick with how they twist EVERYTHING to fit their agenda. All week all we hear about is Kiffin's comments in his first presser after being named the coach, and saying how it would be great to beat UF next year and sing Rocky Top all night......it is ALWAYS conveniently left off that he said immediately after that he was joking and that Mike "made him say it, dont be mad Urban". Accusing CUM of cheating was a big mistake, no doubt....and Kiffin apologized about it. HE has been made out in the media as some HUGE trash talker, but I challenge anyone to find ANYTHING else he has said that could even be remotely construed as talking bad about the UF program or CUM. He said it was big to steal Nuke and Teague from UF on signing day.....SO WHAT?!?! It WAS a huge thing or us to get those guys. I absolutely cant wait till this season is behind us, we have a year in his system, we bring in the #1 recruiting class in the country (which will hopefully include not only Bray, but maybe another QB like Newton) who actually have the mental capacity to not COMPLETELY tank on their teammates on their home field. Bring on 2010 and especially 2011.

Agreed. Coach Monte Kiffin's kid's record speaks for itself. 1-1...enough said.

How quickly gator fans seem to forget their days under Zook.....and the first year under CUM and the 2007 season. Enjoy the ride on the high horse while you can. With a couple more recruiting classes like the one we are currently putting together, UF wont have such an easy time of it. I guarantee by then, all the UF "fans" on this board, like yourself who bring nothing more than trying to talk crap like a middle school kid, will be MUCH harder to find.

The entire controversy is a smear campaign engineered by national, regional, and local media to keep UT football down. I did not know that.

Your real problem is that deep down you know the Vols can't stop this from happening. You can blame the media, or act like it doesn't matter because... hey, "the media expects us to get slaughtered, so who cares if it happens? We have a young coach who mouths off." But when Florida does actually hang 50 or more on you—and they will—it's going to hurt. At that point, you're going to start wondering why UT hired the guy in the first place. And oh... then your team gets to go to Tuscaloosa to face Saban. It's not going to be a nice season. Hey, I've lived through a few bad ones with Bama. UT will survive this. But get ready: This is not going to be easy on you, and no amount of pretending it doesn't matter is going to ease the pain. Have fun.

I'm not sure it's possible that we could possibly suck as badly at hiring football coaches as Alabama has in the past 10 years.

It amazes me that Kiffin is still getting flack for this. What's it been, about 7 months since he said anything remotely controversial?
