It seems he is writing and verbally asserting that Tennessee was a leak source last spring when Nico made his salary demands. The inference is we are the ones in the wrong. He doesn't spend any time talking about the salary demands and cites the family as sources. I think VolNation needs to give Mr. Klatt our opinions about him. His address on X is https://x.com/JoelKlatt .

WBO, I appreciate the spirit. But I'm done with coordinated attacks. Whether verbal, online, in person, or physical.

It's the mob mentality, the 'let's gang up on a person,' that might encourage fringe lunatics to think it's okay to go even farther. In their sick minds, they think they're being heroes to the rest who don't have the "courage" to take the next step.

I know this wasn't your intent. And I know 99 times out of 100, no lunatic takes the bait and runs with it.

Nonetheless, I've decided I will no longer join in group targeting of any kind, and will discourage it in others when I have the chance.

It's an insane world we live in these days.

Go Vols!

At this point--who cares? If TN leaked it to the public he was demanding more money then that's a good thing it was leaked by UT. If someone is holding you hostage, you don't stay silent. Just goes to show that we have a healthy program and nobody is above it. No need to go and try to roast Klatt. It's a waste of time/energy on someone who doesn't really care about UT.

I'm not sure if you're serious or not. If you post the link for his X account, then you just made his day by causing his traffic to go up. Either you're thinking wrong if you want to punish the guy for his opinions, or you're working with him to grow his visitors.

I don't think I could disagree with your last statement more. Don't feed the troll.

It's bait and click....

Banish his nonsense from your planet and lead a happier life.

Someone at UT did leak it to someone. I didn’t think this was a mystery. I also don’t care. Good for them for taking the power back and controlling the narrative before Nico’s pathological liar of a father could spew his junk.

I also think it’s silly for fans to lash out at media types. Makes us all look bad. Let him say whatever. Nico and his people were in the wrong and made a bad move. If people want to spin for them then let them look ignorant. Today, of all days, we should remember that this is just sports.

Why on earth would a university NOT leak that? A franchise NIL player trying to hold a program hostage for a proven marketless sum during a spring camp is reprehensible. That was the family's only move. They pushed the issue then because they thought UT would cave due to the fact camp had already begun and they were wrong. There is no fault in the University for that. They had to get ahead of the PR nightmare if the family got to control the narrative. Klatt is a UT hater. Any rationale human can see how this narrative has changed from the family over the course of this transfer. If Nico was balling right now, they would ALL be running those mouths daily. The only fault of the UT admin is not being a better judge of character in your franchise QB and family.

His top 2 “Buy Stock” programs prior to the season were Clemson and Michigan. I think Clemson was even his national champion pick or at least had them in the national championship game. I can’t recall. He also rode the Sanders train pretty hard showing his bias towards Colorado (where he played). He was also a former walk-on and will always have a certain chip on his shoulder in all of his opinions. Just comes off as a very smug media personality and he is not my cup of tea. I prefer to listen to Josh Pate. He is much more in tune with his audience.

Tons of respect for this post, and has encouraged me to act in the same light through all walks of life.

Agree. Water over the dam and we are sailing in good waters. One of the best deals we have made in a while.

Tennessee leaking the information that he was holding them "hostage" and demanding more money was ABSOLUTELY the best play in the situation.
It got UT out ahead of the situation and allowed UT to control the narrative of the story...the family couldn't play the "poor, poor, me" card to gain public sentiment.

Truth needs to be told, especially if your quarterback has sneaky intentions that might affect his position. He got paid, that was all public, his intentions should be too.

This narrative will not go away. I have to wonder if Big Nick isn’t working the media. Surely, there are more important sports news stories than what happened last spring. Since Nico is having a terrible season, I guess they want to make him a victim of the university.

Of course he is, or maybe someone from his camp with a little more tact and media savvy. Nico is only a victim in that you can’t choose your family. They supposedly got what they wanted, so no sense in whining about it now. UCLA got the big star and we got the castoff. It’s up to Nico now, Tennessee is not why he is in this position. It’s because his play simply isn’t what he thinks it is.

I’m pretty certain that he has a Sith tapeworm. It’s draining him from all rational thought and twisting all of his words and deeds into evil. Pure evil.

Why even "leak" it. Just flat out announce it. "Nico has come to us and asked for a raise and we are in discussions concerning it."

Klatt is just repeating what lazy sophomores do on History essays: take the opposite-to-reason position in hopes of appearing smarter--rather than do the requisite research.

Zigging when others zag lets you stand out from the crowd. Eventually that course leads you to run aground, while the others sail on. But... you still get noticed.

Which was always the goal.

Thanks for being a sense of reason in this chaotic space. It is so much easier to go with flow of hatred than to forgive and or better yet see from where the vitriol is coming and choosing to ignore it.
