Special teams:
1. continued excellent KR & PR from last year or not as good?

2. Medley improved precision/accuracy beyond 35 yards?

3. Darr improvement (if possible)?

4. Will the young speedsters cover the KO and P well?

Darr is having a good training camp with the Dolphins.

1. If PWill, George, and Croom can all use their height and physicality downfield.
2. Dormady's and Guarantano's command of the offense during their reps.
3. Mosesley's play at corner. Will he lock it down opposite of Cam?
4. Defensive shutout. I want to see pressure for all 4 qtrs even from the 3rd and 4th string.

1. Gaulden's impact at nickel.
2. How often and how effective they work the 2 TE set with Croom and Wolf.
3. Who will play the most at other safety between Abernathy and Warrior.
4. Of the freshmen receivers (including new comer George) who stands out the most.

He won't see the field at any score. If he does, then this will be a disastrous circumstance along the lines of UCLA 94'. The real 2 deep does not have JG in it.

I'm on all 4 of these. I have about 20. That's what always makes openers so exciting, regardless of the opponent.

Croom at TE
Fab rookie DBs
Fab rookie WRs
Kongbo, Barnett, Vereen and the super deep DE depth put on display
King Tut coming back at 120%!
Shoop's super shut down defense!
Evan Berry/Cam Sutton and Alvin Kamara making house calls on the return game.
15-0!

App state will force us to throw so I'll need to see Dobbs the receivers and the Line prove they have taken steps forward. All 3 have to, and should, be better than 2015.

I'm most looking forward to Shoop's defense. I don't think it will be too complicated, but I am very excited to see our team speed being used to fly around and attack the ball

Will they though? lol. Jk kinda.

1a. Will the concessions have lemonade?

1b. Price of hotdogs.

2. Will I get caught sneaking booze into neyland?

3. What the penalty is for #2.

Step 1: Soak some gummy bears in vodka the night before the game, then put them back in their package and seal it with an iron.

Step 2: If the security guys stop you or try to take them, just say you've got diabetes and need something sugary with you in case your blood sugar drops during the game.

If they get really testy about it, then ask for their name and whether they're really willing to risk you dying of a diabetic shock over some gummy bears.

Step 3: Get f***ed up on gummy bears!

Does everyone feel that CBJ will go vanilla on App State? I think the passing game will be tested, but the ground game will be our meat and potatoes to open up the passing game. On the Defensive side, again, will Shoop show our blitz packages? I just don't think UT will show the whole play book on the first game...........VT will be the real deal. Not looking ahead of App State, but we will see the base packages versus anything else.....jmo.

Go Vols............excited for Thursday.

I think we'll be relatively vanilla from a personnel and subpackage standpoint.

But I do expect/hope to see the offense try to push the ball down field through the air. We need to let our WRs and Dobbs build some confidence with early success and give VT some reason to respect our passing game in week 2.

Had this thread for a few games last year with some good thoughts from VolNation so I thought I would try it again this year. My four are

1. How fast is Shoop's defense during actual game.

2. Will KonGBO live up to all the hype.

3. Wide receivers getting separation.

4. A wide open and fast offense.

Feel free to add your thoughts.
though I would truly like to see all those things I have to be honest I want one thing.

A win with no major injury or dramedy. We walk out with that we are doing well. The less we prove in the win the better. Less tape for opponents and more lambasting the coaches can put on the team to make them realize they gotta work every week. Ugly win i'll take it. Game that sets multiple NCAA records great too. Each week that all I want from this team. win, don't get hurt, don't be stupid.

1.Can Hurd become more physical and use his size to his advantage and run over guys instead of going down easier than a RB his size should ever do.

2. Can Dobb's become more accurate and finally have a deep, vertical passing game.

3.Can someone take over opposite of Cam and become another lock down corner?

4. Can we become more aggressive when we get DD leads? Instead of going conservative will Butch keep his foot on the gas until our leads become almost impossible to come back from?

5. Can Medley win a game for us if he is needed and can he become more consistent on kicks over 40+ yards?.

6. Can Dobb's cut down on the turnovers but still maintain his aggressiveness?

7. Can Butch finally beat UF,Ala? Can he beat ranked teams and do it consistently? Can he win the East and when guys like Cam,JRM,Hurd,Dobbs and Kamara leave can he have guys behind them that are just as good and consistently keep us in the top 10-15?

I too am looking forward to seeing if Butch can beat UF and Bama week one. Would be a very impressive accomplishment, to say the least.

Just win baby!

Just like in 1998 the Vols went 13 by finding a way to win!

So it's just like Al Davis used to say, just win baby!

Against Appy, I hope we don't HAVE to find out [about Medley's accuracy]! :hmm:

Heh, good point, Squid. On the other hand, if we get ahead 65-0, maybe Butch starts telling the lads to go for a FG on 1st and 10 from the App State 30 yard line, just to get Medley in the game a couple of times and test him from range.

A man can dream.... :)
