Four SEC teams ahead of us

Umm Lyle and the BSiA have to beat vandy before we start worrying about a chance to play for the sugar bowl championship

You're forgetting that A&M beat us. And the Committee pays close attention to head-to-head results as a point of emphasis among comparable teams.

If we and A&M both end up 9-3, and A&M's last win is over LSU while our last win is over Vandy, they very well may leapfrog us.

If the Committee is going to be that objective then they will see us as the better team than A&M. It took 7 turnovers, home field advantage, and double overtime for them to squeak out a win against us.

It's gonna be another dog fight. No doubt about it. Vandymania is very confident and I don't blame them based on our respective games last Saturday.

SC game gets plenty of talk for good reason but that game sticks out almost as much.

Unless Vandy goes nuts and trys to fling it all over the field they will keep it close enough to win. Their D is good enough to get some stops.

Surprisingly, the greatest threat to us getting a Sugar Bowl invite is the team at #25 right now: Texas A&M. All the others should work themselves below us in the standing over the next 14 days.

#1 - Bama (almost certainly in the playoffs)
#15 - Auburn (lose to Bama and drop 5+ spots next week)
#16 - LSU (lost to Florida; should drop 5+ spots tomorrow night)
#19 - Vols
#23 - Florida (could leapfrog Vols this week, but will fall in next two with FSU & Bama losses)
#25 - A&M (watch out; could leapfrog us if they beat LSU)

The other outside chance is Auburn pulling off the upset in the Iron Bowl. That would take our Sugar Bowl chances away, as well.

We find ourselves in the odd circumstance of rooting for Bama and LSU to win this coming weekend. Heh.

FL v. FL State will be close. Gators will bottle up Cook and harass Francois. Game could go either way.

In the bowl projections I am seeing, they are giving us the sugar bowl because the project we will have the best ooc win (Virginia Tech) of the possible teams. Second only to Bama over USC.

Presuming they're not weighing their body of work as well.

Texas A&M's losses are much worse than ours...and bigger wins wise in conference it's close to even (OOC the VT win is much better than their UCLA win turned out to be).

At least we already know South Carolina is going to a bowl game.

At this point the same can't be said for 4-7 Mississippi State and 5-6 Ole Miss yet.

This 100%...what's the point in playing "big game" out of conference matchups if not to boost your resume for bowl season. No way they jump us with the same record.

Really both a good OOC win among the 3-loss teams, but possibly also better losses.

What are the odds they give it to A&M though? That's what I'm worried about considering they have that stupid LSU team ranked and they beat us head-to-head. I mean UT travels well but College Station is pretty close to NO, right?
