That's the AP poll which is obsolete in the college football playoff era (the committee pays no attention to it). We were #19 in their poll last week. If Tennessee beats Vandy and LSU beats Texas A&M (perhaps big ifs), Tennessee has a very good shot at the Sugar Bowl (assuming Alabama beats both Auburn and Florida - which are not big ifs).

I'll never trust LSU again.

FSU needs to knock off UF just for another loss for them or they might stay higher ranked in the CFP poll

Surprisingly, the greatest threat to us getting a Sugar Bowl invite is the team at #25 right now: Texas A&M. All the others should work themselves below us in the standing over the next 14 days.

#1 - Bama (almost certainly in the playoffs)
#15 - Auburn (lose to Bama and drop 5+ spots next week)
#16 - LSU (lost to Florida; should drop 5+ spots tomorrow night)
#19 - Vols
#23 - Florida (could leapfrog Vols this week, but will fall in next two with FSU & Bama losses)
#25 - A&M (watch out; could leapfrog us if they beat LSU)

The other outside chance is Auburn pulling off the upset in the Iron Bowl. That would take our Sugar Bowl chances away, as well.

We find ourselves in the odd circumstance of rooting for Bama and LSU to win this coming weekend. Heh.

Rooting for LSU? I did that last week. I'm used to it.

Rooting for Bama? Never.

Would have preferred to be in SEC championship but at least we get to see FL or AL get beat on 12/3. That never makes for a bad day.

A&M won't leap frog us for beating an unranked, 6-4 LSU team. Not when we're already 6 spots ahead of them.

This all assumes we beat Vandy of course.

You're forgetting that A&M beat us. And the Committee pays close attention to head-to-head results as a point of emphasis among comparable teams.

If we and A&M both end up 9-3, and A&M's last win is over LSU while our last win is over Vandy, they very well may leapfrog us.
