How is it absurd? If parents want to work 5 eight hours shifts... go right ahead. But if they don't, it shouldn't have any affect on the rest of the workers that prefer to work 4 tens...
I suggest you go back and read my first post in this thread and place it in the context of the post I was directly responding to. In no way did I imply or infer that "single" people should be forced to abide by a schedule that works best for parents. If your employer offers a 4-10 workweek and you take it, good for you, but don't get all pissy when your co-worker/drinking buddy who is a parent prefers to stay on the original 5-8.
