Foster a serious NFL RB

I would like to say I was a throw Foster under the bus guy at the beginning of the season and have been turned. We need another RB to compliment his style but he has played well. He has made key fumbles in the bowl and against FL but he is not a "fumbler." I hope Creer or Poole can give him the combo Coker was supposed to. Hardesty will never stay healthy over a long period.

My apologies to you Mr. Foster.

The fumble in the FL game was Ainge's fault.

Foster is not an NFL back. He has gotten the best out of his ability but he will not make it at the next level. He doesnt have the speed and he goes down easy for a 230 powerback. He is a good college back but will do nothing at the next level. If he takes off this year he will go 6th-undrafted. He is a hard worker i'm just afraid in this case it isnt enough. I like Foster I just dont think he has it for the next level.

I wish Arian the best...but to answer your question...NO I dont think he will be a NFL running back. I just cant get past the fact that he runs like he wears cement shoes and he fumbles...and he fumbles...and he fumbles:whistling:

I like Foster and appreciate his intensity and how hard he plays for the Vols, but I personally don't see him making it in the NFL. He's just too s.l.o.w.

foster took his eyes off the ball against UF????? any RB looking at the handoff needs to be removed. the QB does the looking. the back is looking for a place to run.

It's still a team game though. Name one game where a little bit of offense wouldn't have overcome Foster's mistake. We still should have won the bowl last year and the SC game in 2005 despite Foster's fumbles.

Wouldn't that be weird if that same excuse was made for Phil Fulmer? lol

But that would be a craaaaaaazy idea for most....

does anyone think Foster can hack it in the NFL. i dont see him being much of one. all the articles and word around campus is that he's a clown and thinks too highly of himself. i for one will not be sad if he leaves and actually hope he does.

Word around campus? What do you know about the word around campus in Chat town? Word around my campus is that AF is greatly respected and a great guy

I like Arian. Does he have break away speed? No. But neither did Emmit Smith.
Arian works hard, hits the holes hard, runs hard, plays hard, loves UT, and is an awesome teammate.

I look forward to him having a GREAT 08.

I'm sure I'll get no repsonse for this (and if i do it won't be something like "good post!" :) ) but I see everyone's points but here's a few of mine...

1) Foster will PROBABLY never make it in the NFL

2) He was much better this season as far as hitting the holes and not dancing around. Sadly, IMO, he reverted back to that in the SEC champ game.

3) HE was better about handling the ball, but his fumbles came at the worst time possible. (Thank God for linemen running downfield)

4) If he continues at this rate, he should have a fine season next year, hopefully he'll be consistent the whole season.

5) What a great reciever he was coming out of the backfield this past year.

That's just me. :salute:

Foster's biggest problem is, sadly, he lacks speed. Sadly because speed is something that can only minimally be improved. In other words true speed is generally a God given talent. Having said this, Foster's running style reminds me of Shawn Alexander (minus the speed of course)for some unknown reason.

I should note that his speed is not bad it's just he lacks a true burst.

Foster is a solid back. Not All-SEC or All-America so far. He's got one more year to prove himself.

He's never had the speed Coker had. I miss that in a back.

Foster gets the tough yards. Look at his average. I would much more have a back that can average 5 yards a carry than one that only has speed. Foster has shown an ability to get to the outside. Maybe not break it. But defenses have to respect him going inside or outside.
I like Foster and I have no clue why we are even having this debate right now.
