Lewis Hamilton is King of MOTORSPORTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like Lewis might be staying put. As much as I want a shake-up. That Merc team as Honda, and Post-Dave Richards BAR, was never that good. 2009 was by all means and purposes a very unusual circumstance, following a creative interpretation of the rules. Not to cheapen their championship but the way they fell off a cliff after the first half spoke volumes.

Any chance for Ferrari? (assuming they're still around)

Wondering what will happen if massa never fully regains form

Doubtful. As much as Alonso compliments Hamilton these days I think he has a vote on who goes.

I want to argue that also Ferrari does not do equals. But Massa and Kimi were on the same team, Ferrari let them go at it in 2008, for a decent chunk of the season.

I am amazed that Massa is still around honestly. You look at 2010, and that season started well. He was a pretty competent driver. Comes out at Bahrain and gets second. What broke him in my opinion was getting asked to move over. I really think that he thought he had that race and that he was back. I think it crushed his confidence.

I want Perez to go elsewhere, I think he has a lot of talent and unlike Maldanado, his racecraft is already at a high level. Get him a seat anywhere that is a step up. I feel like Ferrari does not want him yet because he might be too much of a threat for Alonso. I just hate to see Perez throw away many years not having a chance at WDC.

Agreed on Perez but I have to assume Ferrari will have an open seat if things keep on like this. Just trying to get a handle on who gets it

Ferrari hasn't said a word. They have said that Perez isn't ready, and that Massa needs to perform.

It has been surprisingly quiet on the Ferrari front.

And now it's looking like he might be going to Merc.

Tomorrow is apparently the day.....

I want him to stay at McLaren because I don't think much of Merc, but others are making me think that Merc might have their stuff together next season.

I'm still in shock that Lewis made the switch. I hope he knows a lot more than anyone else out there knows about Merc's potential.

If this move turns out to be mistake I will be there to silence anyone who makes the comparison to Villenueve.

People say that once JV went to BAR he never won another race. What people fail to remember is that after he won the WDC in 1997 he stayed at Williams. Williams was garbage in 1998 and they have never regained their same form since 1997. So people can't blame him for wanting to move along. Now about 1999, JV was not exactly hot property. The seats at McLaren were well sorted with Mika and DC doing the business, and Ferrari had what they needed in Irvine and Schumacher. So what does JV do? He goes to the team his manager had started at BAR.

To be honest I can hardly blame him. Williams wasn't performing, and the top two teams didn't need him. If you are going to end up in a mediocre car, why not take boat loads of cash.

Now fast-forward to 2012....

Hmmm. During mid thought I just realized that Hamilton is in a much better situation than JV was in. So if this whole deal goes badly, he could very rightfully be more ridiculed than JV. :(

Perez will do very well at McLaren. I'm happy he got the spot.

I'm not sure why Hamilton moved to Mercedes though, especially with a spot at Ferrari probably opening up. I'm not convinced by Mercedes at all. Rosberg isn't a bad driver, and even an old Schumacher is still probably skilled enough to compete.

It's true that Ferrari doesn't do equals, so I guess that is why Hamilton won't be going there. I always thought that was a damn shame about Ferrari, and one reason I cannot really root for them as a team, although I like Alonso. How much fun would it have been if when Ferrari was dominate, there was a driver alongside Michael that could challenge him.

As for Michael, does he retire? Honestly, it's been sad seeing his run of form. I'd like to see him in a Ferrari one last time, although I doubt Alonso would be happy with that. Those two egos would clash and it would go against their model.

I see Kimi staying put at Lotus. They are within striking distance of Ferrari for third in the constructors and Kimi is currently third in points. It's a good fit.

The black book of F1.

Pretty cool read. Amazing that Phillip Morris still drops $100,000,000.00 on ferrari every year.
