Former Vols speak out

Even if most of its true, why not man the hell up and let people know who you are and what your problem with things are?? Its the chicken way out, and that says a lot about the ex-players mentioning it.

Too a certain extent, you are right. It is a chicken way out.

But you have all of these unwritten rules about not throwing people under the bus and what not. Heck, when somebody like Terrell Owens comes out and openly criticizes McNabb, he's labeled a cancer. If these guys criticize the program anonymously, you criticize them. So it's a no win situation. Oh oh... there is the 3rd option of keeping quiet, which in my opinion, is a chicken way out. If you see something that is wrong and you don't speak out about it, then you are no better than the former players you are criticizing.

I would rather not name any names but I have a guy that works with me who played there a few years ago. He was a offensive lineman. He even thinks its time for a change. He said he counted 13 missed blocking assignments in the first half of the Cal game and got disgusted and just turned off the game.

Better to be quiet and not labeled an idiot, than to speak out and proved to be one. Owens has been like he has since San Fran and he's a gamer so that all evens out. If your going to say something just say it. If not, then keep it to yourselves. Sometimes keeping quiet is the best thing to do, because people will get themselves in trouble most of the time without any help from others.

Keeping quiet can be cowardly, also. If you see something is wrong and you don't speak up about it, then how is that any more noble than the person that hides behind unwritten rules about not commenting on certain things (Will Overstreet)?

It may be, but it will save your hide and you won't feel as bad if something goes wrong. I mean really, what's it any of ex-Vols business?? Lesser of two chickens I guess you could say.

So in other words, don't rock the boat... be quiet, don't stir things up, and maintain the status quo until things eventually work themselves out. :ermm:

That's the g8terh8ter_eric motto.

Apparently that article is so far off base that it hit a very sore nerve of Fulmer's:

"Ordinarily, I'm a pretty big boy and I can take and ignore anything. But I thought it was an incredible cheap shot," Fulmer said, bringing up the story that quoted anonymous former Tennessee players.
"It hit a dang nerve and I don't appreciate it," Fulmer added. "I don't usually respond that way, but I think in this case, I think our football team and our program deserves a response.
"It was an incredible cheap shot is what it was. An incredible cheap shot."

Taken from ESPN. Maybe that is Fulmer admitting that he has been ignoring the criticism for years now, and it's time to wake up? Hopefully. THAT was the team I expected to see fielded against UF and Cal. We'll also see if they can keep up that intensity... which I'm not all that confident of.

LOL

DC you're so funny.

Keep taking shots, when Tennessee wins out and then loses to the number one team in the country in the SEC CG, you'll be able to talk about what a disapointment Fulmer is again. Just bide your time my friend, just bide your time.

Here you go again. How is that anything about me talking about Fulmer?

I was merely putting excerpts of two media articles concerning Fulmer and his program, and what he has let it become. I think that 2 games (Cal and UF) speak louder than the UGA one. That's just my opinion though. Anyone can get pumped up for one game, but can he keep these guys at that level? You are right, that does remain to be seen. But I have not said anything about the rest of the season.

My thoughts too. I hope they can keep that kind of game up for the rest of the year. I remember feeling good after last year at Cal. Anyway, I will take what they gave us tonight and feel good for my three day weekend! :)
