Former Vol...

So, your tired or people slamming players, and I'm tired of people trying to slam members for having an opinion of a particular coach, player, or situation that doesn't agree with the likes of your own. Your response was well thought out, but it's no more important, right, or wrong from anyone else on here.

You started it. I was just agreeing with JonWard.

at UT, for whatever reasons. He's very athletic--and he looked at one time like he might become a big-time player, but it didn't happen and, yes, he was a poor tackler late in the his college career. It's weird that some guys actually don't play as well as seniors as they do as juniors; talented, young kids should get better every year--but doesn't always happen when kids aren't focused. I'm not saying Hefney fits into this category, but it never came together for him like many thought.

I am a no talent schmuck but I learned to wrap up in pop warner. It doesn't take talent to be fundamentally sound. Sorry if I expect D-1 football players to display the basic fundamentals of the game. If that makes me an a-hole then so be it. There are about 32 teams in the NFL that passed on him and I guarantee you that is why. Its annoying that there are so many fans that can't watch a game objectively.

I see you still didn't get my point, and probably won't.

I'm not really trying to start or continue an argument and it is not my intention to antagonize my fellow Vol fans. I think I understand where you were coming from and I agree it is your right to have and state your opinion about our coaches and players. It just seems that there is excessive negativity here sometimes.

I would even agree that many of our players including JH were not developed to their full potential while under the former coaching regime.

i liked hefney and am glad to see him doing well. he did have a bit of a sub par sr yr, but he made a lot of great plays for us. I was wondering, xxBMW...., is the CFL a "pass happy" league? i don't know ANYTHING about that league, but sounds like he is doing well in a league that throws a lot. i know they have produced some good qb's, moon, flutie, etc...

Yes it is definitely more "Pass Happy" Than NFL or College Football, Flutie and Moon are definitely some of the big names, but some other great QB's the CFL has produced are Jeff Garcia (in the NFL now), Anthony Calvillo (Currently the best QB in the CFL (In his like 14th season)) He is right behind Marino in passing yards and will more than likely become North America's all time passing yardage leader in a few years

Probably the most successful CFL Qb was Damon Allen, Who currently holds the record for passing yardage of any other QB in North America (with 72,381 yards)

And as for Hefney, I havent seen any noticeable flaws in his tackling, he seems to be good at everything he has been doing

You've been on here a month and your telling someone who has been a member for 4 years what it takes to survive a message board?? :eek:lol:

Time on board or number of posts = ZERO... if you have a valid point. In this case, this guy is a goof regardless of number of posts.

Always remember, there are tons of Vols here with not so many posts that have been reading posts for years.

We have to get away from grading posts based on "how long" somebody has been posting. That means nothing.

Can you tell me if my point will be any more or less valid or somehow enhanced by the the passage of time or the number of days added to my collective membership on this board? If so, I will calendar an appointment in the future to send Jon Ward a personal message.

:eek:lol:

He has played in 8 games, Has 27 Tackles and 2 interceptions (Should have been 4, one was taken away on a challenge, even though you could clearly see it was an INT, and the other was taken away from a penalty)

I cant find a stat for knock downs, but he has ALOT in crucial situations

Usually the QB's like to pick on the rookies for easy completions, but alot of games this year, Hefney has been shown a 4th/5th year type of guy respect
Well, I would say that's pretty damn good. I wonder how many other former Vols are in the CFL?
