I am a huge Winnipeg Blue Bomber (Canadian Football League) Fan, And this year I have had the privilege of watching former Vol, Johnathan Hefney, Tear it up for the Blue and Gold this year, his rookie year

Hefney is not only a ball hawk, but is passionate about his team and teammates. Whenever a cheap shot is laid on one of our players, Hefney is there fighting for our team, not letting anybody get away with anything (I have even seen him push around a guy a foot taller and twice his weight around)

Just thought I'd log into this site and let you guys know about Hefney in case any of you were big fans or something (I know I am, Getting his jersey on Monday hopefully)

I really enjoyed watching Hefney a couple of years ago. I've always felt he never lived up to his full potential. Great to see he's finally realizing it. :good!:

hefney pretty much destroyed his draft status when he came back for his senior year. good to hear he's doing well.

Has he learned how to tackle yet? He just bumped people with his shoulder when he was here.

I am sick of the contrived little shots taken on our former players here. Some of you people are just a$$holes.

I always liked JH.. I think if he went pro after his junior year he would be in league. If Wade can play why cant he?

JonWard, if you're going to survive this site, you'll have to try to get used to that. It drives me nuts that so-called fans use every opportunity to take these little immature shots. The funny thing is that no former player or coach is immune no matter what their status or value was to the university before, during or after their time here.

Even Peyton has detractors here, the knock on him being that he couldn't beat Florida though there are 21 other players that should be just as accountable. Some posters do not feel that a Fulmer thread is complete without a food reference.

I like this site a lot and there are a lot of great contributors but sometimes it's hard to read through a thread with some of these idiots. Sometimes, it's hard to believe that we're all fans of the same team. Some are only fans until the player makes a mistake and I've never seen any player make it through a game, let alone a season without some kind of mistake.

I am personally friends with JH and his girlfriend... He is a stand up guy, he has a lot of talent but just a bit undersized... He looks to me like a mini ludacris lol! But, the cfl should be a perfect fit for him and I wish him all the best. It's good to remember to always support your team just like you would your family because the fact is we are all part of the Tennessee family, period.

You've been on here a month and your telling someone who has been a member for 4 years what it takes to survive a message board?? :eek:lol:

Yet another incorrect assumption that contribution or intelligence has anything at all to do with the amount of time spent on a topic that has general opinion as its source. If we're talking academia, then your point has merit, but my response was to a fellow Volunteer fan that has wearied, as I have, of other fans taking cheap shots at our own players.

Can you tell me if my point will be any more or less valid or somehow enhanced by the the passage of time or the number of days added to my collective membership on this board? If so, I will calendar an appointment in the future to send Jon Ward a personal message.

People say that about him and Arian, but I disagree. Scouts don't just like at your on the field performance. Hefney and Arian would have been about the same regardless of when they entered the draft b/c their combine scores would have revealed their strengths and weaknesses, etc... Neither Arian nor Hefney would have been a 2nd rounder if they would have left after their Junior year.

So the man says something that is pretty factual (JH never wrapped up and did a lot of hard shoulder bumping) and he's an *******?

Man, some of you cats need to get the sand out of you know where.

didn't say they would have. but hefney's senior season performance definitely didn't help things any. i disagree about it turning out the same though. if hefney leaves after his junior year, he gets drafted IMO.

It is the easiest thing in the world for no talent schmucks to log in and criticize. It gets old that is all.

And his CFL stats are.....................:search:

He has played in 8 games, Has 27 Tackles and 2 interceptions (Should have been 4, one was taken away on a challenge, even though you could clearly see it was an INT, and the other was taken away from a penalty)

I cant find a stat for knock downs, but he has ALOT in crucial situations

Usually the QB's like to pick on the rookies for easy completions, but alot of games this year, Hefney has been shown a 4th/5th year type of guy respect

So, your tired or people slamming players, and I'm tired of people trying to slam members for having an opinion of a particular coach, player, or situation that doesn't agree with the likes of your own. Your response was well thought out, but it's no more important, right, or wrong from anyone else on here.

There's a lot of those no talent schmucks that help pay the bills for us to have a football team and other things around UT. I would say that they could criticize all they would like to. Doesn't mean that we all have to agree with it though, but I believe that Hef never completely lived up to what he could have done either. That goes for many member of this university in the past 5-7 years as well.
