Yes, you read that correctly. Not only did Nathan Peterman get a shot in the NFL, he stayed there for six years amassing earnings over six million (even after throwing one of the worst games in NFL history). As if things weren't already strange enough in Chicago with rumors swirling around former DC Alan Williams, this makes no sense. This leaves the Bears with only starter Justin Fields undrafted rookie free agent Tyson Bagent as the quarterbacks on the roster. I can't wait until the story comes out on this stuff. Please post if you have any information.

And re-signed him a day later.

The only ODD aspect of Peterman being cut is that he was on the roster to be cut. He’s “experienced” at being a non-factor when he enters a game…so Bagent is a wash at worst.

Good for him for making a ton of money in the NFL. and staying as long as he did. I like him, and clearly quite a few NFL coaches like him. He may get picked up, but either way, he got a lot out of a little,

He stinks. Idk how he has been in the NFL this long. He must be a great practice QB. Any time he has seen real in-game action it has been awful.
makes slightly more sense now. thought cutting the 3rd stringer makes more sense imo

The Bears have bigger issues:

Fields is not even an NFL-level backup and it was obvious before he was even drafted.

Da Bears gonna be Da Bears.
He not in a nfl organization. The bears are a **** show, no QB is going to be successful there.

I don't think the bears are helping fields out much. He looks to be better as a runner, which isn't great for a long-term plan, but getting something out of him for a few years is better than what they are getting from him now. Turn him loose with designed runs and play-action. Everyone is trying to turn him into a passer, and he is really a hyper athletic version of a Shanahan QB. Run, play defense, and hit some big shots. They can win that way. It is sad how that franchise has just completely fallen apart.

Read somewhere that they were going to put Peterman on the practice squad to sign an OL but the deal with the OL fell through so they re-signed Peterman to the 53-man squad.
Ok, they absolutely need some help at o line. Did they ever figure out whats going on with the former DC?

I live in the Chicago suburbs and I’ve been there since 1980. Been a Bears fan the whole time. Except for 2 appearances in the SB and a few other playoff appearances, they have stunk it up the entire time. One of the worst (if not the worst) franchises in the NFL.
I was shocked when they traded up for Fields. I never thought he was very good at OSU and he’s lived down to my expectations. They have an undrafted rookie now for his backup. And honestly in his (Tyson Bagent) playing time in the preseason I think he’s better than Fields
